In most circumstances when teams have the type of success the Dallas Cowboys have had this season, you see other organizations poaching some of the coaching staff away for their teams. Fortunately it doesn’t look as if that’s going to happen for the Cowboys.

Jason Garrett is a favorite to win Coach of the Year and keeping his coaching staff intact is a huge benefit for the Dallas Cowboys.

There was a lot of speculation that offensive coordinator Scott Linehan would be one of the favorites to land one of the vacant head coaching jobs. With all of but one of them filled already, it doesn’t look like he will be going anywhere.

I’ve been critical of Linehan’s playcalling at times, but it is actually really good news that he will be returning. That means the chemistry between Prescott and Linehan will continue and should only get better from here on out.

Rod Marinelli will return as defensive coordinator and I can guarantee that he will be getting some new talent to mold his defense. It’s been simply amazing what he was able to get out of the Cowboys defense this season. With more talent to work with next season, the defensive side of the ball will only get better.

There may be some assistant coaches that move on for better opportunities, but not anybody that shouldn’t be too hard to replace.

  1. I completely agree with you. While this is a difficult time and was a hard loss to swallow. There is a lot to be excited about moving forward. This team, at least on offense, is set to contend for years to come. If they can add a couple more difference makers from this draft (EDGE and CB) they will be in a great position moving forward.

  2. Hoping, Smith can pick up, where he left off @ Notre Dame. Read somewhere, that HOF D. Brooks, Tampa Bay linebacker, who flourish in this system, will be working with Smith and his fellow linebackers, this off-season. It’s just a matter of time, when this defense will be a top 5 defense again.

    • If Smith can return to his former self, he already takes this defense to another level. Then add in any free agent signings and the 2017 draft class, you have the makings of an improved defense. It is definitely something to be excited about.

  3. think positive our offense is awesome get rid of free we have collins back inprove our defense smith back helps and we are young team only getting better
