The Cowboys are 35-23 (.603) in Week 3 games played during their previous 63 seasons.

Do not adjust your screens, you’re not seeing things. Their won-loss record only adds up to 58 games played.

Dallas has had two Week 3 games scrubbed by labor disputes in the 1980s.

They’ve also had three bye weeks hit during the third week of the season.

The Cowboys are 17-10 (.630) at home and 18-13 (.581) on the road in Week 3 games all-time.

Streaking Cowboys

The Cowboys have won their last two Week 3 games and five of the last seven.

The two losses have both come against Seattle.

Dallas won 10 straight Week 3 games between 2004 and 2014 with one bye week coming in 2006.

Their second-longest win streak came between 1979 and 1985.

The six-game run had the strike season of 1982 and a canceled Week 3 game as the only interruption.

Oddly enough, the team’s longest losing streak — five games (1986-91) — also had a strike season (1987) in the middle of it.

The Cowboys’ first seven Week 3 games — 1960-66 — were all played on the road.

Their first two games of each of those seasons were home games.

Dallas went 2-5 in Week 3 games in those first seven seasons.

The Cowboys longest streak of Week 3 games played on the road came between 1998 and 2008. They went 6-2 with three bye weeks.

The longest streak of Week 3 home games came between 1983 and 1989.

Dallas went 3-3 with the 1987 game wiped out by the strike.

Against the Cardinals

Speaking of streaks, the Cowboys have won the last four Week 3 games against the Cardinals. Dallas holds a 4-2 record over Arizona in Week 3 games.

The last time the Cardinals won a Week 3 contest against Dallas came in 1965 when they were the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Cowboys’ win streak began with a win at Texas Stadium over St. Louis in 1973.

Dallas lost both games played in St. Louis — 1965 and 1970.

The Cowboys evened their Week 3 record at 2-2 in games played in St. Louis though, defeating the St. Louis Rams in 2013 and 2014.

Dallas has won all three Week 3 games against the Cardinals since the team moved to Arizona.

The Cowboys’ wins in 1992 and 1993 came against the then-Phoenix Cardinals. Dallas downed the Arizona Cardinals in 2017.

Overall, the Cowboys are 56-34-1 versus the Cardinals.

Dallas is 24-21-1 on the road against the franchise, but just 10-10 in games played in Arizona.

The Cowboys have lost the last two games against the Cardinals and six of the last seven.

Against The NFC East

The Cowboys have played two teams eight times each in the third week of a season, both NFC East rivals.

Dallas is 5-3 against the Eagles and just 3-5 against the Redskins in Week 3 games.

The Cowboys are 3-2 against the Giants in the third week of the season.

The 21 total games against the current NFC East teams are the most Week 3 games Dallas has played against any division.

Last Two Standing

There are only two NFL franchises the Cowboys have not played at least once in the first three weeks of any season.

The earliest they have played the Ravens was Week 6.

The Cowboys think they can do these things but they just can’t.
