The Dallas Cowboys have been busy getting their 2021 draft class signed recently. First-round pick Micah Parsons put his John Hancock on his four-year deal on Wednesday, and second-round selection Kelvin Joseph signed his deal on Thursday.
Entering Friday, the Cowboys had eight of their 11 draft picks signed, with only their three third-round selections left to go. According to Rob Phillips of DallasCowboys.com, that number has risen to nine as Defensive Tackle Osa Odighizuwa has signed his rookie contract.
Odighizuwa was a three-year starter for the UCLA Bruins. He’s not going to blow you away with sack numbers (had 11.5 sacks in college) but he was stout against the run and had 27.5 tackles for loss. Odighizuwa joins a defensive tackle group that has experienced several changes from a season ago. Brent Urban and Carlos Watkins were added during free agency. Longtime veteran Antwaun Woods is longer on the roster and behemoth nose tackle Quinton Bohanna was selected in the sixth round as well.
2020 third-round pick Neville Gallimore and Trysten Hill, who was selected in the second round in 2019, will be ahead of Odighizuwa on the depth chart at the 3-technique. However, Odighizuwa can slide outside and play defensive end which gives him more of an opportunity to contribute early.
The only Cowboys rookies left to be signed are Chauncey Golston and Nahshon Wright, who are expected to do so soon.
