Micah Parsons named Defensive Player of the Week against Rams

For the second time in his career, Micah Parsons has been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week. The star pass rusher earned the honor with a two-sack performance that helped the Cowboys win on the road over the reigning Super Bowl Champs, 22-10.

In addition to his two sacks, Parsons finished the game with five total tackles, one for a loss, three quarterback hits, and a forced fumble created by his strip sack at the end of the game, sealing the victory for Dallas on Sunday.

He’s the first Cowboys player to win the Defensive Player of the Week since he captured the award last year as a rookie. He recorded four tackles for a loss in the week eight victory over the Vikings.

Parsons is off to a hot start leading the way for one of the best defenses in football. This award also helps his odds of winning Defensive Player of the Year, which he is currently the favorite to win due to other players battling injuries to start the season.

We are seeing Parsons dealing with one of his own, a groin injury, and he played through it against Los Angeles.

He will be limited today in practice to help him become healthier. Head Coach Mike McCarthy said they are being smart with him today to be safe. They need him to be near his best when they travel to Lincoln Financial Field and take on the undefeated Eagles on Sunday Night Football.

Pro Football Focus ranks the Eagles’ offensive line as better than anyone in football in pass blocking. Nick Sirianni, the head coach for the Eagles, says Micah Parsons will be accounted for on every play.

Wouldn’t it be great if Parsons earns the honor in back-to-back weeks and ruins the perfect season for the Eagles?
