2013 Stats: 29 Total Tackles, 5.5 Sacks, 1 Forced Fumble

Projected Value: 4 Years, $15 Million

Robert Ayers is essentially a clone of Everson Griffen. Comparable size and skill set except a different level of expectations. Ayers has been a capable player throughout his career but never really met the expectations of his first round draft status in 2009.

Ayers is another pass-rush specialist who could thrive under Rod Marinelli. While I believe he will have a higher price tag the Cowboys have ignored the trenches for far too long and need to eventually upgrade a position that has cost them victories and ultimately playoff berth.

Ayers would start (again draft depending) and offer the Cowboys a relatively young pass rusher who could stick around for four-to-five years.

  1. Yup! Going to be hard. The League upped the CAP to $130M which will be helpful! The team has some options and will be able to add a player or two but they’ll have to be thrifty and smart! As you see, I didn’t pick up too many over-priced FA’s, I tried to keep it sensible, cheap and worthwhile.
