CURRENT: Anthony Brown, Orlando Scandrick, Nolan Carroll

If nothing else, that Cowboys need some more talent to fill out the depth chart. Ideally, they will add a guy or two who can become long-term answers at one of their historically problematic positions.

Anthony Brown went front a sixth-round nobody to someone the team will rely heavily on in 2017. After him is the veteran Scandrick, who is good when healthy but has trouble staying on the field and rarely seems to be at 100% when he is. Dallas signed another veteran in Carroll, but he is arguably a downgrade from Brandon Carr.

Even if Brown emerges as a true number-one corner, Dallas will quickly need another young talent to join him in the starting lineup. They arguably need that right now in 2017.

If an impact pass rusher is not there in the first-round, the Cowboys can certainly feel good about using the pick on a cornerback. He fills immediate and future needs.

However, given the makeup of this 2017 class, it is far more likely that Dallas can find a talented cornerback at their second-round pick than a pass rusher. Prospects like Kevin King or Fabian Moreau could be there at the 60th pick but none of the defensive ends of consequence should be. That’s why I have to put cornerback in the #2 slot, and of course…
