Cowboys’ culture clearly a problem after latest comments

A man in a light blue blazer, reminiscent of Jerry Jones' favored style, gazes ahead with a neutral expression, embodying the stoic demeanor of a seasoned Cowboys head coach.

Stop me if you have heard this before, but the Dallas Cowboys continue to show all of us that they care about other things rather than winning championships.

We have seen this time and time again over the last 30 years.

We have heard former players talk like Dalton Schultz about the difference in playing with the Houston Texans compared to the Dallas Cowboys.

Remember after he signed with Houston in 2023, he noted that during practices at The Star, he would see fans walking by taking photos and everything else.

When was asked to elaborate on the “unusual things” that happened in Dallas, Schultz shared that there were spectators during workouts at the facility, among other things.

“There [are] people literally going on tours while you’re lifting in the weight room,” Schultz said. “And they’ve got like a … one-way mirror for people to like look at. It’s literally — it’s a zoo.”

How in the heck are you supposed to focus on the task at hand when you have something bigger than football happening with the franchise?

Truth Hurts

As the Chiefs prepare for the big game this Sunday, a former Dallas Cowboys player will be gearing up to play and had similar comments about the problem in Big D.

Former tight end, Peyton Hendershot is the latest one to add comments about how different it is playing for a team outside the Dallas Cowboys.

“This is a throwing no strays, (…) I just feel like, when I came to Kansas City, my first experience in the NFL was the Cowboys, that’s all I knew and I just feel like, here it is strictly just football and winning, nothing else but just football and winning,” Hendershot told Ochoa.

“And I feel like, with the Cowboys, it’s a little bit more of, the public image, the extracurricular that come with it too. And here it’s just, let’s just win football.”

It really stinks to continue to hear former players talk like this even though all us fans already know how true it is, but the owner does not care.

I mean heck, he threatened to fire the local radio hosts for calling him out!

Common Denominator

We clearly have a common denominator here: the culture is the main problem in Dallas, and I know most of the fans see it, but they just want to blame the players for underperforming.

While both can be true, the number one thing when you play for the Dallas Cowboys is clearly not winning, and it sucks.

Every single player that is brave enough to speak out when they leave the team says something similar about how when you are in Dallas winning football games takes a back seat.

Former players are saying it, but Jerry Jones will act like he does not hear it, and the sad part is, all he cares about is how much attention they are getting and the money coming in.

Nothing Will Change

We are going to have to wait and see if the Cowboys can win Jerry’s way or nothing will change.

Heading into the 2025 season nobody really likes the head coaching hire, but the overall staff has not turned out that bad.

22 free agents is a problem though, and if they don’t bring a handful of them back, we could be looking at an even worse season than we just watched.

The bottom line is all the money goes into his pockets. Thus he opens up the team facility for tours when players are trying to conduct their daily work, the media attention is always on them, and we hear about it every single season.

Until he gets out of the way, nothing will change.

Plus, Jerry is an absurd GM. After using 4 @2s and a #1 since Jimmy left they have all been busts. When they went Taco over Watt, so easy to make he leaned on Rod Marinelli for Taco when Rod proved his coaching chops in Detroit by winning one game in two years as head coach. We see him give up 2 #1s for Galloway. We see him trade draft capital that is significant for Roy Williams then give a big contract to a receiver with no speed. Jerry should not be in the HOF for marketing. That is a joke. Jerry can’t even state intelligent thoughts that aren’t rambling. He destroys a football-first mentality for his players.

Meant to say on TEs. And a #2 for a TE with no speed last year was a terrible pick. We didn’t need him. His waste of picks on the CBs drafted in 2022 was incredibly awful.
