While the Cowboys are preparing to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday, an even bigger game will be on the horizon for Dallas six days later. The Cowboys are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Eve in what might be one of the biggest games of the year.
Although the Cowboys have already lost to the Eagles once this year, they were without QB Dak Prescott and still had a very good chance to secure a win. With both teams preparing for the playoffs and Dallas still chasing the crown for the NFC East, tensions will be flying high as Christmas Eve approaches.
If anybody knows a thing or two about football, then Micah Parsons is surely one of them. While joining Buffalo Bills’ DE Von Miller on The VonCast on Tuesday, Parsons was asked if he believes that Jalen Hurts is an MVP, or is it a matter of team effort. Miller asked, “Is it Hurts or the team?”
Parsons responded, saying, ‘It’s a little bit of both, man.”
The Eagles are 12-1 with the best record in the league and currently hold the number one seed in the NFC leading into the playoffs. The Cowboys and Eagles are two of the most explosive offenses in the league, and their Christmas Eve showdown will be one for the record books. The Cowboys are still trying to take over the NFC East and pursue their own hopes of securing the number one seed as the playoffs approach.
Even as a Cowboys fan, it’s hard to look past the remarkable season that the Eagles and Jalen Hurts have had this year. As a clear frontrunner for the MVP this year, Hurts currently has a 108.4 passer rating (first in the NFL), with 3,157 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Parsons later continued, adding:
“I’m not trying to make no enemies. I just love the game so much, and I understand it so much, that when things are off, I just can’t hold it in. I’ve almost got to say something.”
It’s hard to narrow down exactly what is causing the Eagles and Jalen Hurts to have such an incredible year, but nonetheless they are, and so are the Cowboys. The Eagles are currently two games ahead of the Cowboys in the NFC East, and the Cowboys know what is at stake come Christmas Eve.
Eagles’ LT Jordan Mailata chimed in on Micah Parsons’s remarks, saying, “I’m going to worry about the Chicago Bears this week, mate, worry about this game. Micah should worry about his game this week, too. I don’t know who the f— they’re playing, pardon my language. Just worry about who you got this week.”
Nonetheless, its entertaining to see that the Cowboys and Eagles rivalry is alive and well, especially when both of these teams could see each other again in the playoffs.
While all the attention will be focused on the game against the Eagles next week, the Cowboys will be staying focused on taking on a scrapping Jacksonville Jaguars team this Sunday that the Cowboys cannot take lightly. If the Cowboys hope to make the game against the Eagles on Christmas Eve more meaningful, then they need to find a way to get a win this Sunday.
