Cowboys 2017 Mock Draft: Who Said The Secondary's Thin?

Josh Jones, SS, NC State

Okay, I’ll be honest. I don’t know if there’s a realistic scenario where Josh Jones is available 60th overall. Just yesterday, I saw him mentioned at the end of round one, on some boards he is graded as a third round player, however.

But for the purposes of this FanSpeak mock, he was sitting right there and just waiting to be picked. If, by the Grace of God, Josh Jones is available in round two, Dallas would be foolish not to draft him.

Jones is my fifth-highest rated strong safety in this year’s deep draft class, and will be a day one starter for the Cowboys in 2017. Adding Jones to the back-end of the Cowboys defense with Byron Jones, Anthony Brown, and Nolan Carroll gives the Cowboys a solid secondary.

  1. I like your selections. I don’t think Adam Shaheen will be available in the 4th. He’ll be a Day 2 pick. I’m not a fan of drafting a RB. I firmly believe we can get what we need from the undrafted ranks. I’d rather use it on other positions.
