Donnel Pumphrey Dallas Cowboys Draft

Donnel Pumphrey, RB, San Diego State

After re-signing Darren McFadden and allowing Lance Dunbar to walk, the Cowboys are now in the market for a late-round running back.

Donnel Pumphrey can be a replacement for Lance Dunbar, and could play the role that many fans had hoped Darius Jackson would enjoy after last year’s draft. At just 5’8″ 176 pounds, Pumphrey is very undersized, and would not be expected to play in traditional offensive sets too often.

But on third downs and obvious passing situations, I wouldn’t mind seeing Pumphrey matched up with linebackers or safeties in the open field. He is athletic enough to win on those match-ups, and is surprisingly physical for his size.

  1. I like your selections. I don’t think Adam Shaheen will be available in the 4th. He’ll be a Day 2 pick. I’m not a fan of drafting a RB. I firmly believe we can get what we need from the undrafted ranks. I’d rather use it on other positions.
