It feels so good to be able to write about a regular season game again, and I think the best way to get this started is to take a look at the most important matchups for the first Sunday Night Game of the year.
Doesn’t it just seem like the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants play on Sunday night football to open the season like every other year? It’s nuts.
Still, I think both teams will be better than a year ago, and it should be a fun game. So let’s dive into the most important matchups to watch on Sunday night.
Malik Nabers v. Secondary
From everything I have seen thus far, it looks like Malik Nabers is on track to play on Sunday against the Cowboys and if he does, the secondary better be ready for a battle.
I would assume DaRon Bland would start on him. The good news is I don’t think he is going to play a lot of snaps, he is recovering from a torn ACL and has only been doing non-contract stuff.

his debut as Dallas’ defensive maestro is in six days from now.
Still, if he does suit up, Christan Parker will have to game plan for him and the rest of the young Giants offense.
I think that Caleb Downs will shadow him just a little bit, and we will see how things go, but I’m looking forward to the new-look defense going against the young Giants offense.
Tackles v. Giants Young DL
Tyler Guyton and whomever starts between Jones and Terence Steele need to get off to a good start against a rebuilding Giants defensive line. Try and gain some confidence.
The blind side for Dak Prescott has got to be figured out by the time they hit the meat of the schedule and if they don’t get it right, they could struggle a bit.
The rest of the offensive line now has a shake-up because Tyler Smith is out 4-6 weeks, TJ Bass is the highest paid backup on the team filling in, but this will be a good first game to get the blood flowing and not be overwhelmed, and hopefully, with a huge dominant pass rush.
The Giants lost Dexter Lawerence to the Bengals, so hopefully the Cowboys tackles can not look horrible the first game of the year, because this is the only spot on offense that I still think needs some work.
Lamb & Pickens V. Greg Newsome
Yeah, exactly who is Greg Newsome? Well, he is just a Giants cornerback that opened his mouth last week when talking about CeeDee Lamb & George Pickens.
Last Wednesday, he asked about facing these two guys and said they are both very good at doing different things and the last time he tried to deal with GP, when they both played in the AFC North, it was not pretty.
Newsome added: “Definitely great players, but I like our chances.”
Take a look at the video below also, Lamb beat up Newsome and the Giants secondary every single time he plays them, so I do not really expect anything different this time around if we are being honest. We will see how it goes.
You won’t like your chances after the game is over, Newsome, nobody even knows who you are outside of New York.
The Cowboys should take care of business and start the season 1-0, but we have seen plenty of times things not go the way that they should, but I guess these three matchups could be good ones to watch.
I am just glad the NFL starts again tomorrow with a Super Bowl 60 rematch and I think it will be a fun game to watch and get us ready for the season and Dallas Cowboys football.
