CeeDee Lamb is off to a hot start with the Dallas Cowboys and surprisingly enough has already cemented his name in Cowboys history.
Last week against the Atlanta Falcons he became the first rookie in the history of the organization to record a 100-yard receiving game in the first two weeks of a season, which will likely be just the first of many such. In fact, I think things are setting up nicely for him to have another 100-yard receiving game this week against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks might be undefeated (2-0) so far to start the 2020 season, but you wouldn’t know it by the way their defense is performing. Seattle’s defensive numbers are downright ugly and the Dallas Cowboys high-powered offense should be able to capitalize on that.
No other team in the league has allowed more yardage (485) or passing yards (415.5) as Seattle has per game so far this year. In fact, the 847 passing yards they’ve allowed is the second most in NFL history in the first two games of a season.
Just last week Cam Newton lit them up 397 yards, 179 of which Julian Edelman hauled in. And this is where I believe CeeDee Lamb comes in to play, who like Edelman plays predominantly out of the slot.
No offense to Cam Newton or the rest of the New England Patriots offensive weapons, but I don’t think they hold a candle to what the Dallas Cowboys have at their disposal. If the Patriots can have the kind of success they had offensively last week against Seattle’s defense, there’s no reason to believe the Cowboys can’t do the same or better.
With Seattle’s best corners likely matched up with Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, that leaves what’s left to try to contain CeeDee Lamb. Last week that job was Jamal Adams’ at times, which is one of the reasons why Julian Edelman had such a big game, including a 49 yard bomb. Whether it’s Adams or someone else though, Lamb is going to be a big problem for the Seahawks.
That’s just the kind of pressure the Dallas Cowboys offense puts on opposing defenses though. There’s just not many defenses around the league who can match up with the kind of talent the Cowboys have at their disposal. Some players may go off one week while others another, but against the Seahawks I’m predicting it will be CeeDee Lamb.
I think CeeDee Lamb’s first 100-yard receiving game will end up being a huge confidence booster for him and only increase his appetite for more. The way Seattle’s passing defense has struggled and Lamb’s new hunger, I’d be surprised if he doesn’t have the best game of his career this week. Just remember, you heard it here first.
