In a must-win for the Dallas Cowboys, it played out exactly how you should have known it would, a game that is never easy for this franchise and nothing changed until late in the second half.
Remember what we said all last week, good things happen when you have a balanced offensive attack, and that was the biggest key to victory for Dallas tonight, but it was not pretty.
This was a one-score game for most of the night until the Cowboys pulled away, but it started that way because of the Dallas defense.
The Dallas Cowboys defense allowed 9 of the 14 first quater plays by the Eagles to result in a first down, like, please answer me one question. Do any of these guys watch film? It is comical how bad this Cowboys’ defense is led by Christian Parker.
With a practice squad offense, the Cowboys found themselves trailing 14-10 early in the second quater, because twice the defense had a chance to get a 4th down stop and then force an FG, and they had TWO penalties that gave the Eagles new life.
This defense has no chance. They aren’t going to be able to win multiple games in a row with this unit.
The sign of HORRIBLE coaching on both sides of the ball.
With a backup QB and no starting wide receiver, the Cowboys’ defense allowed a 75 and 76-yard drive that both ended in touchdowns.
The Cowboys offense once again had to do everything possible to not lose this game, and after a 4th and 1 conversation, Dak Prescott found George Pickens on a ball that could not have been thrown any better to the back corner of the end zone to make it 17-14, but guess what, we weren’t even close to being done.
Somehow nearly a perfect offensive half, scoring 17 points, the Dallas Cowboys found themselves only able to take a 20-14 lead into the half, because once again, the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys had no idea what he was doing and left a timeout in his pocket before the half and waited way too long to use one before a catch by Lamb got them into the red zone.
Brian Schottenheimer shows us every single week why he is not a head coach in this league. It is horrible, and you can’t do this against good football teams.
Far From Over
The Dallas Cowboys offense scored on four of their five possessions in the first half, and guess what? The Eagles took a 21-20 lead after the first drive of the second half.
The Dallas Cowboys defense might actually be the worst in history, and I am not even kidding. They are well on pace, and I did not think that was possible after what he saw last year.
The Eagles had three third downs and one fourth down, and Christian Parker REFUSED to rush anything other than 4, and they got no pressure on Tanner Mckee and the backup could cover long enough and the guys were wide open.
The defense can’t stop you & I if we played for any team, let’s keep it real.
Once again, Dak Prescott took the lead with another beautiful pass to the back of the end zone to Lamb for his second of the night and a good 2-point play call to take a 28-21 lead, and all the defense had to do was once again keep the Eagles JV offense out of the end zone, and you win, and guess what?
Over 43.5 cashes in the 3rd quarter
Schotty had a chance to really put the game away, but three questionable calls inside the red zone with 9 minutes left costed them four extra points. But at this point, I just wanted a two-score game. They made it 31-21, but with this Dallas defense, no lead is safe.
But every blind squirrel finds a nut every now and again. As the Eagles were driving, DeMarvion Overshown made a solid diving interception. They still only have two on the season and both have come from a linebacker.
At the end of the day, you saw how much better the offense looked when the Cowboys are balanced and run the ball well. Dak made two great throws for touchdowns, and Javonte Williams had his best game of the year.
He finished with 25 carries for 155 yards and one touchdown to ice the game.
Prescott had 212 yards and three touchdowns, two for Lamb and once for Pickens, but was great when he needed to be like those three touchdown passes.
Overall, the defense is the worst in football, but the offense against a fantastic Eagles defensive front was great on the ground and threw in the air. This was the best ground game against that Eagles defensive line in a few years as they noted on ESPN, would have to find the full stat.
The Cowboys kept the season alive with a solid second half, and a long way to go, but at least we can look forward to one more week as of now.
