The Cowboys aren’t exactly on fire today in New York, but the Giants are drowning in their own mistakes. Thanks to two takeaways by the defense, Dallas has built a 15-3 lead at halftime of this Week 15 matchup in the NFC East.
Jourdan Lewis snagged a tipped ball for an interception early in the half to set up the Cowboys’ offense with good field position. The drive was capped by an Ezekiel Elliott touchdown; the only trip to the endzone for either team thus far.
Near the end of the half, DeMarcus Lawrence punched the ball out of Saquon Barkley’s grasp and Carlos Watkins scooped it up for the turnover. The next drive, and the second quarter, ended with Greg Zuerlein’s third successful field goal of the day.
Dallas has already put up 101 rushing yards in just 30 minutes. Elliott has 42 yards on 10 carries and Tony Pollard’s rushed seven times for 59 yards.
Dak Prescott has looked a little sharper this week, completing 17 of 23 passes for 132 yards. But the missed opportunities at touchdowns are an ongoing concern on offense, and a better opponent would likely be making the Cowboys pay for the lack of scoring.
Hopefully the Giants don’t figure things out during the break.
