NFC East Overview for Week 7 in the NFL

No, you’re not reading the headline wrong: it really is Week 7 in the NFL. Time is flying by, and for the NFC East, that’s not a good thing, as the division seems to be getting worse with every passing Sunday.

It is undoubtedly the worst division in the NFL to this point, and as injuries have mounted and wins have become harder to acquire, the NFCE just keeps sinking. In fact, it just became the first division in NFL history to go entirely winless in back-to-back weeks.

Here, I’ll give a quick overview of what each team in the division faces this week, so you’re up-to-date on their matchups, major injuries, and more. Let’s get into it.

1. Philadelphia Eagles: Four Weeks Of Hell for the Philly Faithful

  • Matchup: At Home vs. Cowboys (+4.5 Point Underdog), 7:15 PM CST Kickoff on Monday Night Football.
  • Expected Major Injuries: QB Jalen Hurts (IR), WR DeVonta Smith (OUT), WR Dontayvion Wicks (OUT), LB Nolan Smith (OUT), DB Michael Carter II (OUT).
  • Biggest Storyline: Without their QB, is Philadelphia about to enter its first five-game losing streak in 10 years?

The last time Philly lost five straight, Dak Prescott was a rookie quarterback; now, at 33 years old, he’s expected to hand them that fifth consecutive L.

Philadelphia started 2-0 and in a commanding position, but everything that could go wrong since then has, and now their season looks like it might just be over. Jalen Hurts is done for the year (in one of the craziest medical disasters in recent NFL history), and he’s just one of many top Eagles to go down for an extended time in 2026.

The latest step: The NFL and NFLPA announced today that they are now working together to investigate the medical care #Eagles QB Jalen Hurts received.

Yes, they are at home, but Dallas should take care of business against these badly injured Birds on Monday Night Football. Give me the Cowboys to send Philadelphia to 2-5.

2. New York Giants: Gigantic Underdogs, but Still in First Place?

  • Matchup: On Road vs. Texans (+10 Point Underdog), 12:00 PM CST Kickoff.
  • Expected Major Injuries: QB Jaxson Dart (IR), EDGE Brian Burns (IR), LB Tremaine Edmunds (OUT/IR), CB Greg Newsome II (OUT), S Jevón Holland (OUT), TE Theo Johnson (OUT).
  • Biggest Storyline: Can backup (and presumed draft bust) QB J.J. McCarthy come out on top as a huge underdog in Week 7?

It’s another week where the Giants lead the NFC East, but things are headed in the wrong direction in a hurry.

They haven’t won in a couple of weeks, with a tie and a loss in their last two games, and now they are pivoting away from Jameis Winston as the Jaxson Dart replacement in exchange for McCarthy. With due respect, that doesn’t instill much hope for me.

This week, they are expected to lose by a lot on the road against Houston, and I think that’s exactly what will happen. Give me the Texans in this one.

3. Dallas Cowboys: The Must-Win of All Must-Win Games

  • Matchup: On Road vs. Eagles (-4.5 Point Favorite), 7:15 PM CST Kickoff on Monday Night Football.
  • Expected Major Injuries: WR KaVontae Turpin (OUT), LB Dee Winters (OUT)
  • Biggest Storyline: Will Dallas continue to fold, or will they spark a revival against a damaged Eagles squad?

The Cowboys season, to this point, has been a disaster; they are 2-4, but they were one Texans stop away, and Jayden Daniels’ injury away from being 0-6.

Dallas was outclassed again last week against the Packers (who could’ve seen that one coming), and it feels like they are a loss on Monday away from outright imploding. They desperately need this win to get things back on track.

It’s the biggest game of their season so far, and I think they are able to respond. As I said earlier, I see a Cowboys win in Philly this week.

4. Washington Commanders: A Well-Timed Bye Week for the Commies

  • Matchup: BYE WEEK.
  • Biggest Storyline: Can Washington use the week off to save its season?

The Commanders have the first bye week of any NFC East team, and boy do they need it.

They sit at 1-4-1, with a coach on the hot seat, a quarterback trying to avoid re-injuring his elbow every week, and a roster with limited upward potential. They’ve got a long season ahead, as the rest of this division does.

Washington will be back next week against the Eagles, which will surely be a barn burner.
