As we gear up for the 2023 season, the Cowboys have plenty of great games on their schedule.
Dallas always bring in, if not the highest, pretty close to the top of viewership each week their games are on national television.
A few stand out more than others; some are more likely to be watched than others based on storylines, matchups, etc.
The first two are right off the bat.
Week 1
Opening night against the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football. It is the first game of the year and the first SNF football game.
The world will be tuned in that Sunday for the first week and cap it off watching the night game.
Outside of last year, when Dallas played the Buccaneers in week one, the Cowboys and the Giants always play on Sunday Night Football to kick the season off.
As mentioned, the world will be tuned in and start the year with a bang.
Week 2
The following week, Dallas hosts a familiar face with a new team—Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets.
Rodgers is 8-2 against Dallas in his career, and the Cowboys can’t figure him out.
He led the Packers to a 31-28 overtime victory in 2022 after trailing 28-14 entering the fourth quarter.
With a broken thumb on his throwing hand, Rodgers completed 14 of his 20 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns.
Anytime the Cowboys and Rodgers clash, this is always a game folks tune in for.
Week 5
The Cowboys are on the road in the divisional round rematch with the San Francisco 49ers.
It remains to be seen who will be the starting quarterback with Brock Purdy’s elbow injury. Either way, folks will want to watch this game.
The 49ers still have Christian McCaffrey and a loaded defense led by Nick Bosa.
Week 9 & 14
Week 9 and 14 are the games I am looking forward to the most.
These games could very well determine who is going to win the NFC East.
The Eagles lost the Super Bowl a year ago and will look to get back this season.
Dallas closed the gap between them when they traded for Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore in March.
This year also could be the first time we see Jalen Hurts at his best against Dak Prescott.
In both games a year ago, the backup had to start for either Philly or Dallas.
I expect another split between the two teams.
The Eagles will win at home in week nine, and then in week 14, Dallas will take that game at home.
The 2023 schedule for Dallas is a good one. Plenty of other games will bring attention to fans, but these are my favorite that the world will tune in for.
The Cowboys should end the season with another 12 wins. The only loss inside the NFC East coming at the Eagles in week nine.
Will that be enough to win the division? It will depend on how Philly responds and if they will have a Super Bowl hangover, but I think getting to 12 wins gives them a legit chance to win the East.
Thus, the division still won’t see a repeat champion.
