As the end of the week has arrived, I am still disappointed, yet not surprised by the lack of moves made by the Dallas Cowboys in free agency.
The only moves this team has made thus far are re-signing long snapper Trent Sieg, cornerback Jourdan Lewis, C.J. Goodwin, and Eric Kendricks.
While I am happy they brought Kendricks to reunite with Mike Zimmer, it doesn’t change what they lost.
What Makes This Frustrating
What makes this the most frustrating is not only the fact that this team needs to have a sense of urgency but also that all they do is talk about it, even after they do nothing!
Yet, here I am again another year wasted, and I know it will never change!
By now, we all know what Jerry Jones said about going “all in” this season after the playoff loss to the Packers, and yesterday, Stephen Jones had the most annoying answer when finally meeting with the media this week.
Jones was then asked if the Cowboys’ front office is frustrated with the need for big-name signings to begin the 2024 Free Agency.
“It’s not frustrating because we’ve done well with the draft. I think we have 10, maybe 11 Pro Bowlers. That’s a sign that our organization… has done our job in terms of developing players.”
So then, Stephen, what have those draft picks done for you????
You can’t win a playoff game; you waste Hall of Fame talent. You do the same thing every year, and it gets you nowhere.
He Doesn’t Care What The Fans Think
Jones was then asked how the Cowboys organization feels towards the fans who feel frustrated with their version of “all-in.”
“Everybody certainly has the right. I know the frustration: we have yet to have success in the playoffs to their satisfaction. Until we do that, the criticism will be there, and we know that will be there.”
Well, if you’d look around the league, you would see that when good teams improve their roster by adding big-time players, they typically make that kind of run, buddy.
I’m sick of all the talking; I want to see this team win in the playoffs. Say all you want about Dak Prescott being the quarterback, but it was the same way when Tony Romo was here.
They can’t win when it matters, and the problem is the family who owns the team.
Look at what Ryan Poles is doing over there in Chicago. They have struggled for some time now, but when you have a REAL GM. He just traded for Keenen Allen and signed D’Andre Swift, Gerald Everett, and Kevin Byard.
You can’t find enough talent to fill the gaps this team has already lost this offseason.
You need two offensive linemen, a running back, a defensive tackle, and another linebacker.
You have a roster good enough to win right now, and you are trying to bank on the draft to fill your major needs; it is a joke.
Wishful Thinking
At this point, I would LOVE for Dallas to do what the Rams did just a few years ago.
ACTUALLY go all in and win a title, and then be awful for another 5 years; I don’t care. Just show us that you care about winning football games.
Refrain from fooling with you; if they wanted to make some cap room. They could have done so already and signed whomever they wished.
The cultural problem everyone has been discussing starts at the top with the Jones family until they give up power, which won’t happen anytime soon.
Jerry will always be Jerry, he wants to do it his way or nobody’s way.
