Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith has never been one to shy away from helping others off the field. This week, Smith hosted the inaugural Minority Entrepreneurship Institute Showcase as The Star in Frisco.
Smith founded the MEI back in 2019, looking to help close the “economic and educational gap in minority communities.” This showcase allowed Texas entrepreneurs to pitch their small businesses in an attempt to receive financial investments and get back on track after the pandemic.

After narrowing it down from 147 applicants, Smith and his team selected the top ten to come to The Star and compete. In the end, Jaylon Smith announced that five minority-owned businesses were added to their portfolio, and the MEI team would be donating an extra $600,000 as well.
