The Cowboys offensive depth chart is where I think things could get more interesting than a few people realize.
We obviously have the locks. Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jake Ferguson, and Tyler Smith. That’s the easy part.
The difficult part is figuring out what Dallas does behind the big names. Do they keep three quarterbacks? Do they give Ryan Flournoy a real shot at WR3?
If I was the one building the roster today, I’m leaning into the youngsters. I want upside instead of keeping the safe veteran names just because we know who they are.
The players in bold blue below are my projected 53-man roster.

Cowboys Quarterback Depth Chart
- Dak Prescott
- Joe Milton III
- Sam Howell
I’m keeping three quarterbacks. Having some insurance behind Dak Prescott is a must.
Joe Milton is still the upside guy, but at what point will the experiment be over? The arm talent is real, the athleticism is there, but I don’t know if he can win games right now.
Sam Howell makes the roster because I think if Dak were to go down, this guy would be the starter. He has the experience and can be the “Cooper Rush” game manager type of player.

Cowboys Running Back Depth Chart
- Javonte Williams
- Jaydon Blue
- Malik Davis
- Hunter Luepke
- Phil Mafah
- Israel Abanikanda
- Dominic Richardson
The running back room has a clear front-runner in Javonte William, but after that it gets pretty murky.
Jaydon Blue gives the offense some speed and juice, Malik Davis is the reliability, and Hunter Luepke gives the offense a Swiss army knife type of player.
Dominic Richardson is a player I want on the practice squad. He’s an older prospect, but he brings some tools and production from his time in college.

Cowboys Wide Receiver Depth Chart
- CeeDee Lamb
- George Pickens
- Ryan Flournoy
- KaVontae Turpin
- Jonathan Mingo
- Anthony Smith
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling
- Parris Campbell
- Traeshon Holden
- Tyle Johnson
- Jordan Hudson
- Camden Brown
This is where I’m planting my flag. Ryan Flournoy will be WR3.
I think Flournoy proved his worth late in the season with some big-time receptions. You could see him starting to settle in, play faster, and look more comfortable when his number was called.
CeeDee Lamb and Goerge Pickens are without doubt the top two guys.
KaVontae Turpin is a punt returner and gadget guy. Jonathan Mingo is a big body who hasn’t proved anything yet, but still has potential. Anthony Smith makes it because of his size and speed combo.
Jordan Hudson and Camden Brown are practice squad guys right now, but Jordan Hudson could turn some heads in camp.

Cowboys Tight End Depth Chart
- Jake Ferguson
- Brevyn Spann-Ford
- Michael Trigg
- Luke Schoonmaker
- Princeton Fant
- DJ Rogers
This may be the bold move that catches some hate, but I’m over the Luke Schoonmaker experiment. I want a tight end room that gives Dak Prescott some options.
Ferguson is the undeniable starter, Spann-Ford gives the Cowboys a bigger body blocker who can catch, and Michael Trigg is the receiving threat Schoonmaker was supposed to be.

Cowboys Offensive Line Depth Chart
- Tyle Smith
- Tyler Guyton
- Cooper Beebe
- Tyler Booker
- Terence Steele
- TJ Bass
- Nate Thomas
- Drew Shelton
- Ajani Cornelius
- Matt Hennessy
- Trevor Keegan
- Macellus Johnson
- Nick Leverette
- Sidney Fugar
- Shiyazh Pete
I’m keeping eight offensive linemen to go deeper at other positions. I know nine is the normal number to keep, but I like the extra spot on the defense.
TJ Bass, Nate Thomas, and Drew Shelton give some position flex to help fill the gap with one less player.

Cowboys Special Teams Depth Chart
- Brandon Aubrey
- Bryan Anger
- Trent Sieg
No drama here. Brandon Aubrey is the kicker, Bryan Anger is the punter, and Trent Sieg is the long snapper.
This is the easiest group to figure out on the entire depth chart.
Offensive Practice Squad Targets
These are the offensive players I would like to see get picked up on the practice squad after cuts:
- Dominic Richardson
- Phil Mafah
- Jordan Hudson
- Camden Brown
- DJ Rogers
- Princeton Fant
- Sidney Fugar
- Ajani Cornelius
- Shiyazh Pete
This group gives Dallas developmental depth at the right spots and several of the UDFAs. I didn’t include Traeshon Holden because he is going on a couple of years and hasn’t made much of an impact. Phil Mafah could very easily make the 53, but as of now he’s a practice squad player.
