Cowboys QB Dak Prescott To Be Inducted Into the Reese’s Senior Bowl Hall of Fame

On Thursday morning, the Reese’s Senior Bowl announced that Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will be getting inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame. Joining him will be Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller, former New England Patriots Running Back Kevin Faulk, former 49ers Linebacker Patrick Willis, and former Colts and Chargers Quarterback Phillip Rivers.

Prescott, who played in the 2016 Senior Bowl, was the MVP of the bowl game after completing seven of 10 passes for 61 yards and one touchdown. While those numbers may sound average to some fans, his performance got his name buzzing for the 2016 NFL Draft, and as we all know caught the eye of the Dallas Cowboys.

In a statement by Prescott about what the induction meant to him, he said:

It’s a great honor to be inducted as part of such a distinguished class of 2022. I view my week in Mobile as a game-changer in terms of competing against the very best and helping me prepare for moving on to the NFL. I will forever be grateful to the community leaders, bowl executives, and sponsors who present this game every year, and for the fans of Mobile who provide the support that makes it so very special.

While some fans may scoff at Prescott’s accolade, it should be celebrated that he was one of many players who have benefited from the bowl game to improve their draft stock. Without the opportunity, Prescott may have seen his career take another path, and like Prescott or not, but because of his performance he became a viable option for the franchise after Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones failed to trade for QBs Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook.

Guess you could say everything worked out, huh?

Prescott will join Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Bob Hayes, Lee Roy Jordan, Chuck Howley, Larry Allen, Terrell Owens, DeMarcus Ware, Jay Novacek, and coach Tom Landry as Cowboy players who were inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame.

Additionally, he and Rivers will become the only other QBs to make the (Senior) Hall of Fame, as NFL Hall of Fame QBs Joe Namath, Dan Marino and Brett Farve were the others.

The Class of 2022 Senior Hall of Fame inductees will be honored in a ceremony in Point Clear, Alabama on June 26.
