Perfect no longer. The Eagles' run of narrow escapes in 2023 finally came to an end this week.
That they were eventually going to lose was never in doubt. That they would lose to the New York Jets was something of a shocker.
The Cowboys took full advantage.
Dallas' 20-17 win over the Chargers pulls them to within a game of the Eagles in the NFC East.
The Commanders gave up 402 yards to the Falcons while only gaining 193 yards on offense. But thanks to three Desmond Ridder interceptions, Washington won the game.
The Giants are cursed. It's the only explanation.
Buffalo was beatable on Sunday night.
Yet, somehow, the Giants still managed to lose the game.
In other words, it was just another wild week in the NFC East.
DALLAS COWBOYS
With Troy Aikman calling the game – and Jimmy Johnson and Michael Irvin in attendance – the Cowboys found some much-needed magic.
For the first time this season, the offense stepped up and scored points when it needed to. They didn't get any scoring from the defense.
But the defense did rise up and get the one stop they needed to preserve the win.
At 4-2 and only game back of the Eagles the Cowboys have a bye week. The Cowboys also have an easier schedule in the immediate future.
After the bye, they host the Rams. Then they travel to Philadelphia for a game that could be for first place in the NFC East.
Games against the Giants and Panthers should be wins.
The Eagles face a brutal stretch of games and could be in some trouble.
WASHINGTON COMMANDERS
Atlanta had three possessions in the fourth quarter while trailing 24-16 and couldn't score another point.
One possession ended on a failed fourth down conversion try.
The other two ended with Ridder interceptions – one in the endzone.
The win moved Washington up to 3-3 while Atlanta fell back to 3-3 with the loss.
The Commanders head north on Sunday to play at the Giants. Speaking of the NFC East's worst team…
NEW YORK GIANTS
The Giants were without starting quarterback Daniel Jones on Sunday night.
Prior to kickoff, if you'd said that Tyrod Taylor would have more passing yards than Buffalo's Josh Allen, you'd have been called insane.
But Taylor did out-pass Allen 200-169. The Giants outgained the Bills, 317-297, and had a three-minute edge in time of possession.
The Bills also had two turnovers while the Giants had none. So, it was a Giants' win right?
A bizarre decision by Taylor to audible to a run at the goal line with no timeouts ended the first half.
It left at least three critical points out on the field.
The Giants then had two plays in the endzone to end the game. They came away with a pass interference and an incomplete pass to show for it.
Snake bit is the only way to describe the Giants this year.
We'll see if they can rebound Sunday against the Commanders.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Look, I've said it for over a year – the Eagles are frauds. They lucked their way into the Super Bowl last year.
The beat a beat-up Giants team and then a 49ers team without a quarterback after Brock Purdy's injury.
Three of Philadelphia's wins this year should have been losses.
Their luck finally ran out on them in New York. Now they get to face the Miami Dolphins on Sunday night.
Then they hit the road to play a Commanders team that already nearly beat them this year in Philadelphia.
Then they get the Cowboys, Chiefs, and Bills. The Eagles could be a 5-5 team by the end of November.
Cry, Eagles, cry.
