After another blowout home loss, this time at the hands of the Houston Texans 34-10, this team is no longer playing for the playoffs, but rather playing for a maybe a top five draft pick.
Rush dropped back 55 times last night, a ridiculous number for a career backup quarterback, and completed just 58% of his passes for 354 yards and one touchdown to one interception.
For what it’s worth, 64 of those yards came on a short hitch route that KaVontae Turpin took to the house. His 6.4 yards per attempt is a marked improvement relative to last week, but again it is ballooned by Turpin’s TD.
The Texans dropped at least four interceptions. CeeDee Lamb had to take an offensive pass interference to save an end zone pick.
Jerry Jones on Trey Lance
The Dallas Cowboys need to let Trey Lance start and maybe even finish the year, we have seen enough from Cooper Rush. You traded a fourth round pick for Lance and you have to see if you can get anything back for him.
In 2023, the Cowboys traded a fourth-round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for Trey Lance, said former No. 3 pick. He didn’t play in that first season in Dallas.
You signed Dak Prescott to that extension, so we know Lance is probably not the future of this football team like some want him to be. He did have a rough preseason, but at this point, he has to be given the keys to the offense.
Yet, of course guess who makes ALL the calls, and won’t let it happen? Yup, Jerry Jones.
Mike McCarthy said the team is frustrated. He said he wanted to play Trey Lance late in the game, but Jones said he wants to stick with Cooper Rush over Trey Lance at QB because Rush gives them the best chance to win games.
Like, no he doesn’t, Jerry, you are watching the same thing we all are. Rush threw for 45 yards in his first start against the Eagles, and had 35 interceptions dropped last night against the Texans.
He is not a very good quarterback. You wasted the 4th round pick on Lance, and at 3-7, you are sticking with Rush because he gives you the best chance to win? This team might not win another game all season!
Rest Of The Season
The Cowboys play Washington this coming week, and then turn around and play the Giants on Thanksgiving. That might even be a loss.
That game and the Carolina Panthers are the only two teams left on the schedule that Dallas might have a chance to squeak by.
Jerry Jones knows this team was set up to fail, but even at 3-7, he won’t give into that yet. He continues to lie to himself and the rest of the fan base making excuses as to why they have been blow out by 20 or more points at home every single game this season.
The Cowboys have been outscored by 118 points in five home games. That’s the third-largest margin in a team’s first five home games of a season in the Super Bowl era.
I don’t know what else to say, guys. How can you not let Lance play going forward? This team has no chance with Rush, and everyone knows it. This team is not good, and you have a former top five pick just sitting as the backup.
It is time to hand over the keys, Jerry, stop letting your ego get in the way, and let your soon-to-be fired head coach start-Lance. I am tired of hearing Jerry talk an hour after every loss!
