Quarterback Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys passing game is firing on all cylinders right now and are putting up some jaw-dropping numbers these past few weeks. They’ve been awfully impressive during that time span despite just being .500. It’s obviously been a team effort, but I also think a lot of the credit needs to go to Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb.
When it comes to the Dallas Cowboys passing game it’s pretty much been the Amari Cooper show since he arrived via trade from the Oakland Raiders a little over a year ago. Cooper has been one of the most dominant receivers since arriving in Dallas, despite getting little help from his counterparts over that time span. That however looks as if it could be changing.
Both Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb have been on fire these past two weeks. They’ve been awfully impressive these last couple of weeks and the numbers they are putting up are one of the reasons why the Cowboys offense, and Dak Prescott, have been so formidable. It may surprise you to know, but both Cobb and Gallup have over 200 receiving yards each in the last two games.
Let’s take a look at what Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb have done the last two games against the Minnesota Vikings Detroit Lions…
Michael Gallup
Michael Gallup has a total of 224 receiving yards and one touchdown over the last two games against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. He had four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown against the Vikings in Week 10 and followed that up with a nine catch, 148 receiving yard game against the Lions in Week 11. He is starting to come on strong just like he did towards the end of his rookie season. Honestly, it couldn’t have come at a better time with the Dallas Cowboys season hanging in the balance and with Amari Cooper banged up.
Randall Cobb
As impressive as Michael Gallup has been over the last two games, Randall Cobb has been equally so against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. He has a total of 221 receiving yards and two touchdowns in the last two weeks. He caught six passes for 106 yards and one TD in week 10 against the Vikings and followed that up with a four catch, 115 receiving yards and one TD game in Week 11 against the Lions. He’s really starting to become a threat out of the slot and Dak Prescott is starting to look his way in some of those clutch situations like he did with Cole Beasley in the past.
I don’t think it’s that big a surprise QB Dak Prescott is coming off arguably the best two games of his career the last two weeks against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions. The Dallas Cowboys passing game has become lethal with the emergence of Michael Gallup and Randall Cobb. And, if Amari Cooper can get anywhere close to 100% healthy this offense has the talent to outscore opponents regardless of what their defense does. That might be exactly what they need to do with how poorly the defense is playing right now.
