NFL to Netflix? Network is expected to land a pair of 2024 games

I was waiting to hold off writing about this until more details were released, but it seems like Netflix may win the media rights to a pair of NFL games in 2024.

Netflix seems to be the front-runner to land two NFL games scheduled for Christmas Day.

Nothing has been made official about this, but it was first reported by Puck’s John Ourand, citing anonymous sources.

The NFL declined to comment on any of this, and probably won’t until the ink hits the paper and they make it official.

Netflix is already becoming the exclusive home of WWE’s “Monday Night Raw” starting in 2025. That deal is valued at $500 million per year for ten years.

Will The Cowboys Will Be Featured?

Let’s be honest; if Netflix lands these games from the other networks on Christmas day, the Dallas Cowboys have to be the early favorite for them.

The Cowboys are the world’s most popular sports team, and that will land the network so much money just by folks buying Netflix to watch one football game.

If Netflix does win the big, it shouldn’t be a surprise. His move with Amazon and others has already shown this is the way he is leading the charge.

“In each of those platforms, our average age of our audience went down eight to 10 years,” the NFL commissioner said at the draft. “So that’s where a lot of people are that we need to reach, and that’s why we’re investing in it.”

Jerry Jones would love nothing more than to be the “first,” team to do something like this.

If this deal gets done, I am sure he will be the first to reach out to the commission and offer his team to play on the network.

The full schedule is to be released in two days, so we won’t know the network they play on Christmas day, but only the opponent.

Who Might They Play?

Making an on-the-spot guess right now I would say Dallas will likely face the Eagles on Christmas day/night.

Dallas is going to have a rough look this season with the non-division matchups.

I am still not sure what to think of the upcoming season for Dallas. They will struggle to run the football, CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons still don’t have a new deal.

This front office is taking their sweet time on trying to get anything done, the market is only going to go up for Lamb if Justin Jefferson gets his deal. Please stop waiting.

Another couple of teams to keep an eye on if the Cowboys land the Christmas day game is the Ravens and the Lions.

These 3 Things: Cowboys Vs Lions Recap

The Ravens open the season on opening night against the Chiefs, and with Derick Henry and others, this could be a solid game for the day.

I also think if Dallas does not play the Eagles if they land the game, it has to be the Lions.

All the drama in that game a year ago would be perfect marketing for the NFL and Netflix.

I will check back in and give an update if we hear of any new developments on this deal getting done or not, but there’s a lot of buzz right now on the premature details.

It is a Monday and a lot of topics have been touched on about the Cowboys.

So if you haven’t heard about this I just wanted to update you and get your thoughts on having to PAY for another service if you want to watch the games on Christmas day.

I get it, but man, just let us enjoy a great day without needing to go through the extra hassle of this.
