As the Dallas Cowboys shared the practice field with the Los Angeles Rams this week before they both played their first preseason game against each other on Saturday, the Cowboys released their first unofficial depth chart.
Now a lot of folks read way too much into this, but for the ones that have been following everything day by day this summer, there are not too many things on it that should surprise you.

The biggest thing that stands out on the first depth chart is that Nate Thomas has earned the second-string role behind Tyler Guyton at left tackle, which makes him the starter at this moment due to Guyton’s bone fracture.
Outside that though, Jalen Tolbert sits as the WR3 over KaVontae Turpin and Johnathon Mingo.
Maybe some thought that Turpin would be listed in Tolbert’s spot, but the problem is he is just not a typical wide receiver, he has his role and is GREAT at it, but can he catch 60 balls a year without being hurt?
The secondary is badly injured.
The two starters as of now are DaRon Bland and Kaiir Elam, who have been awesome this training camp, but can he keep it up when it comes to game time?
The injuries to Trevon Diggs and Shavon Revel, the rookie, feel like they are never going to end.
It has been said they both may actually miss the season opener against the Eagles, when at first I thought they both were on track to maybe at least play a hand full of snaps.
Micah Parsons, Dante Fowler, Sam Williams and Marshawn Kneeland look to be locks to be the pass rushers, and let’s hope this Micah deal gets done before September, because if not, will he play?
Javonte Williams is listed as the starting running back. That is not a shocker, but Miles Sanders has been performing well thus far in spring training, so do not overlook him as being the week one starter.
It is hard to tell what all this means, but things will change as players get healthy, but I will be keeping my eye on the offensive line. They have to play well in order for this team to produce anything.
It is just fun to finally be able to talk about things that matter instead of repeating ourselves time and time again.
As the season grows closer, more things will become clearer, but for now I am looking forward to seeing what the guys can do until September rolls around.
I know it’s just a scrimmage, but the Ram front four defense really stuffed the Cowboy running game. Blame it on the injuries I suppose.
Nah, the rams defense is just that good!! They’re gonna have one of the best defensive fronts in the NFL this year!! They are really good all down the line!! But that’s more just stopping the run!! They couldn’t do much against us in that joint practice when we were throwing the ball!! But either way, that’s we couldn’t run the ball so good…. The rams are really good on the line, especially stopping the run!!
