After the first week of the season I am sure not many thought a 12-4 season and a possibility of the Cowboys resting the starters would be in play week 18 did we?
If Philly wins this week, the answer is yes the Cowboys should sit them. The Cowboys have already lost a handful of key starters on both sides.
However, Head Coach Mike McCarthy is waiting until Monday to make the final call, he told reporters Friday.
They sustained another critical loss Thursday night when Tyler Biadasz suffered a high ankle sprain.
We talk about momentum all we want, but for a team that has been decimated by injuries and has scored 27 points or more in nine straight games, there is no need to risk it next week.
I get it. If the Eagles lose this week, I give it a 50/50 shot of whether or not Dallas does indeed sit everyone.
We saw the Cowboys play everyone in week 18 last season, and it did not do much for them.
This could be an excellent time to see if the Cowboys can work in some new faces for depth on the defense for the playoffs.
I’m not in charge, but the Cowboys have no reason to start anyone next week. The Eagles are without Jalen Hurts again this week but should beat the Saints.
We saw Micah Parsons Thursday night with his hand heavily taped. This team is gassed right now, and let’s give them a break.
The Cowboys will play the winner of the NFC South, and that will either be the Panthers or Tom Brady and Bucs. The winner of the game this week between them will be in the driver’s seat. A win will all but clinch for them.
Whether it is Sam Darnold or Brady, I want the Cowboys as close to 100% as possible. Sitting the starters this week is the only option for this to happen.
This week’s game against the Titans meant nothing, and we saw Biadasz get hurt.
I would hate for Tony Pollard, CeeDee Lamb, or something else on the offense to get hit by an injury the week before the playoffs start.
I just want this team as healthy as possible when wildcard weekend gets here. I really don’t see the scene in trying to run the starters out there and risk any further injuries’.
If they do play let’s hope it is only for the first half, but it is funny to think about next week.
If the Cowboys have nothing to play for in the season final vs. Washington, what if they rested their starters, thus helping the Commanders make the playoffs, and keeping Aaron Rodgers and the Packers out of the playoffs.
Either way I am ready for the playoffs and am hoping nobody else gets hurt in the process.
I hope you all have a great New Years, and as the Cowboys prepare for the playoffs let’s enjoy being able to see them compete when it matters the most and hopefully pull out a few victories this post season. It has been awhile..
