Fans can wake up happy this morning because another football Sunday has arrived. We get to watch near-playoff games today, and some of us might have a must-win fantasy game ahead. For everybody, the NFL injury updates this week are huge.
Whether it’s for your own team’s sake, rooting for or against another squad, or that aforementioned high-stakes fantasy game, you have to know who is healthy and who is out in Week 14.
At this point in the season, all players are banged up: it’s just a matter of how severely. Here, we’ll focus on the guys who have faced real questions about suiting up.
These are the five biggest injury updates in the league for this week’s slate of games.
1. Jayden Daniels Returns: Commanders QB Back After Gruesome Injury
The Washington Commanders have had one of the biggest let-down seasons in the league. After a fantastic 2024, they are 3-9 heading into Week 14 against the similarly disappointing Minnesota Vikings.
Things went from bad to catastrophic, however, in Week 9 when their young quarterback, Jayden Daniels, suffered an incredibly gruesome elbow injury.
It seemed like the nail in the Commanders’ coffin for 2025. That has held true for their record and playoff chances, as they’ve now lost three in a row in Daniels’ absence, but somehow the former LSU Tiger is back under center this week.
Daniels is returning to play against the Vikings, much to the glee of the DC faithful and any fantasy owners who need a boost in their playoff games.
2. Jalen Carter Out: Eagles All-Pro Will Miss Huge Monday Night Game
In more competitive game news, the Eagles-Chargers Monday matchup is a big one for both teams.
Philadelphia’s division lead seems to be out of the woods with the Cowboys’ loss on Thursday, but they are in a slide of their own late this year. If they drop a third game in a row, Eagles’ fans will act like the sky is falling.
Unfortunately for that group, their odds took a big hit with the news that All-Pro defensive tackle Jalen Carter is out in Week 14.
The former first-round pick is a key player on Philly’s defensive line and will surely be missed against a run-heavy Chargers offense.
3. Mike Evans Questionable: All-Time Great WR Game-Time Decision
If you thought Mike Evans’ season was done after an early-season clavicle break, you would not be alone.
I was personally shocked to see he was “pushing” to play this week against the New Orleans Saints, perhaps their biggest division rival in the NFC South.
His status is still up in the air, but it seems clear at this point that he will return this season, even if not this week in Tampa Bay.
Baker Mayfield & Co. enter this game against the Saints as one of the biggest favorites of the week; if they get this future Hall of Famer back, those chances will get boosted even higher.
4. Justin Herbert In Cast: Chargers Star 50/50 Odds To Play With Hand Break
As far as stories to track, Chargers star Justin Herbert has been the biggest one of the past week.
The former Oregon Duck suffered a break in his left hand last week, and actually underwent surgery for it between then and now.
His left hand, as such, is in a cast at the moment, but he is still aiming to play on Monday night against the Eagles. Now that would be some show of strength and resilience right there.
His status is also to be determined, but the extra day of rest is surely helpful as he tries to get on the field against Philly.
5. Drake London Out: Emerging Wide Receiver Absent Vs. Seahawks
Lastly, we have the Falcons’ emerging star at wide receiver, Drake London.
In what has been an otherwise dreadful season for Atlanta, their WR1 has exploded into everything they’ve needed him to become.
London has popped off for 810 yards and six touchdowns thus far, but they’ll be without that production today against the seemingly playoff-bound Seattle Seahawks.
Fantasy owners everywhere are likely on the brink with the news, as London’s now multi-week injury has kept him out of lineups at the most critical point in the season.
