The Dallas Cowboys will take on the rival Philadelphia Eagles during Weeks 6 and 16 of the 2022 NFL season.
Last season, the Cowboys swept the Eagles, defeating them 41-21 in Arlington and 51-26 in Philadelphia. It’s the second time Dallas has swept Philadelphia in the last four seasons.
Returning at quarterback for the Eagles is Jalen Hurts. 2021 was Hurts’ first full season as Philadelphia’s starting quarterback, throwing for 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The 2020 second-round pick out of Oklahoma also completed 61.3 percent of his passes and recorded an 87.2 passer rating.
Hurts will have a new No. 1 receiver to throw the ball to in A.J. Brown. Brown was traded to the Eagles during the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft after registering 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns in three seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
Lining up alongside Brown will be the sophomore receiver, DeVonta Smith. The Alabama product had an impressive rookie season, recording 916 yards and five touchdowns. At tight end is Dallas Goedert, who recorded a career-high 830 yards last season and four scores.
Miles Sanders remains the Eagles’ No. 1 running back. Due to a combination of injuries and lack of chances, Sanders scored zero touchdowns last season. He’ll run behind an offensive line consisting of center Jason Kelce, guard Landon Dickerson, and tackles Lane Johnson and Jordan Mailata.
Edge rusher Haason Reddick is a new addition to Philadelphia’s defensive line. He spent last season with the Carolina Panthers, recording 11 sacks before signing with the Eagles in free agency.
Rookie Jordan Davis on the interior joins defensive tackles, Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave. Davis was picked 13th in this year’s draft after winning the Chuck Bednarik Award and Outland Trophy at Georgia last season.
At linebacker, newly-signed Kyzir White will start, with 2022 third-round pick Nakobe Dean potentially starting alongside him. White led the Los Angeles Chargers last season with 144 tackles, while Nakobe Dean won the college football Butkus Award at Georgia in 2021.
Darius Slay remains the Eagles’ top cornerback after enjoying a successful 2021 campaign. He’ll line up alongside James Bradberry, who was signed in May after being released by the New York Giants. Anthony Harris remains Philadelphia’s free safety alongside Jaquiski Tartt, who was signed from the San Francisco 49ers this offseason.
Nick Sirianni enters his second year as the Eagles’ head coach after making the playoffs with a 9-8 record last season. Dallas will play Philadelphia on the road in Week 6 and at home in Week 16. Week 6’s game will be played on NBC’s Sunday Night Football on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 7:20 p.m. CT, while Week 16’s game takes place on Saturday, Dec. 24 at 3:25 p.m. CT on Fox.
