Troy Aikman vs Tony Romo Stat Comparison

The Dallas Cowboys have always been known to have some great quarterbacks in their franchise, two examples of which are Troy Aikman and Tony Romo. These two quarterbacks are some of the most well-known players in NFL history, but which one has better stats?

The one and only Troy Aikman

Troy played 12 years in the NFL and all of them were with the Cowboys. He started in 165 games with a record of 94-71. With three Super Bowl wins, Troy was an icon for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s.

To observe some more detailed stats, we can see that Troy’s completion percentage was 61.5%. He threw for 165 touchdowns and 141 interceptions. He had a total of 32,942 yards in his career.

The six-time Pro Bowler also had a playoff record of 11-4. He holds a total of 15 comebacks and 20 game-winning drives.

Wow, Troy seems to be the man.

At this point, can Tony Romo even rival him in statistics?

The indelible Tony Romo

Tony Romo played 13 seasons in the league, though he did not play a game in the 2016 NFL regular season. His record is 78-49 in 156 games started. Tony sadly does not have any Super Bowl wins and has a playoff record of just 2-4.

His other stats consist of a passer rating of 65.3%. He had 248 touchdowns and only 117 interceptions. Romo had a total of 34,183 yards and four Pro Bowl appearances. Tony had 24 comebacks and 29 game-winning drives in his career.

Those are a whole lot of numbers for two different quarterbacks.

Now, we can see a big difference between the two.

Troy seems to have had better luck in the playoffs while Tony did not. This is always the main factor when comparing two players side by side with each other, especially quarterbacks. So, Troy takes the cake on that matter.

Upon further inspection, it seems that Tony Romo has better stats in some areas than Troy Aikman did. This can be proved in completion rate, touchdowns, interceptions, and total yards.

Tony even has a better record than Troy in the regular season.

Which player is better?

Even with better stats, Tony can’t compare when it comes to every NFL season’s main objective: winning the Super Bowl.

Troy succeeded in this matter while Romo didn’t come close in any of his attempts. Troy Aikman is the superior quarterback in this area and deserving of his high praise on the matter.

On the other hand, we can not leave out Tony Romo. This man still holds records and still has the ninth-highest passer rating in NFL history, which is just one spot behind Tom Brady. Tony has the better stats for sure, yet lacks in terms of playoff wins.

It’s really difficult to compare both of these amazing quarterbacks.

Each one has had amazing seasons and both had big impacts on the Dallas Cowboys. They are both super talented and each one is skilled in their own right.
