After two quarters, the Philadephia Eagles lead the Dallas Cowboys 20-3. Coming into this game, many people labeled this game as a “must-watch,” as you got two NFC East rivals battling in a dogfight– but so far, it’s been one-sided.
In the Cowboy’s opening drive, they had a chance to make a statement on the road and quiet the loud, rowdy Philly fans. However, they did just the opposite and went three-and-out.
Three-and-outs would be the tale of the first half, as the Cowboys’ offense failed to put together any drives or momentum until the end when they got points on the board with a 30-yard field goal.
But, before Brett Maher’s FG, Cowboy Nation almost went crazy when WR Noah Brown made an all-out effort with an almost-touchdown. The difficulty of the catch was unreal.
Other things fans saw from the offense were QB Cooper Rush throwing two huge interceptions that set up the Eagles’ two of three touchdowns and the lack of creativity from the play-calling.
At points, OC Kellen Moore dialed up successful runs from RBs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard, but he got away from it and put Rush in long 3rd-downs. Hopefully, things can change on offense.
Shifting quickly to defense, the “Doomsday Defense 4.0” has been on their heels the whole first half, as the offense isn’t giving them any help. Their biggest play was DE Dorance Armstrong getting a sack early.
If the Cowboys’ offense can’t get going, it could be a long day for the Cowboys, and the elite defense that we have seen early this season may be non-existent in the second half.
