How do these players rank for the Cowboys heading into 2025?

Yes, the Dallas Cowboys have two more games to be played in the 2024 season, but with them being eliminated from the playoffs, it will soon be time to figure out what the plan of attack is for the 2025 season.

It has been a tough watch this year, but as always, this team has had it’s bright spots and players who are looking to make an impact if they are a member of the team going forward.

Let’s take a look at a few players and how I rank them on the current roster as the last two games come to a close, and they enter the 2025 season.

You won’t see Micah Parsons, CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, Trevon Diggs. We know how important these guys are, I am more interested in the ones on the fence. Who is going to return and be a playmaker that we overlook?

Jalen Tolbert

Out of the three players, Jalen Tolbert is the lowest on my list. I feel like we have been talking about him good or bad since the moment he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys.

On the year, Tolbert has 42 catches for 482 yards and six touchdowns. He scored last week against the Bucs, but has he proven he can be the clear-cut, No.2 guy when Brandin Cooks is gone in 2025?

I am not sure if he has shown enough this season to make us not question it going into next year.

Yes, he has looked good for most of the year, but Cooks is not going to line up next to him and CeeDee Lamb in 2025.

I trust Tolbert to be a solid wide receiver now, but going into next season, for me he is lower on my ranking than probably some, and that is okay!

Trey Lance

You are probably wondering the same thing I am, what is the point of wasting that 4th round pick on him if they aren’t even going to see if he has any chance with Dallas or elsewhere?

You are letting him sit when eliminated from the playoffs, not even letting him play one game to try and see if anyone wants to give him a look and offer something this offseason. It doesn’t make sense.

Lance is middle of the pack for me going in 2025, Cooper Rush is probably going to be the backup against next year, because let’s be real, he is not getting an offer to be a starting quarterback, you know it just as well as I do.

Lance is going to sit on this roster buried for another year, and we are all going to shaking our head at Jerry Jones wasting a 4th round pick on him.

Rico Dowdle

Rico is the most important/underraded player that this team is returning next season not making the big bucks like the others on this team.

Before Sunday Nights games against the Bucs where he only had 13 carries for 23 yards, and three catches for 28, he was on a mission. A mission to show Jerry Jones that trying to bring back Zeke was the worst idea ever.

Trying to force him into the lineup was a bad idea. Rico took this job over and he has earned the job 100% next season. I would still draft a running back, but let Rico be the guy.

Dowdle is closing in on 1,000 yards, and honestly should be a lot closer, but last week was an outlier.

He is averaging nearly 5 yards a carry and is sitting at 903 yards. Tony Pollard barely hit 1K last season, and he was the featured back all season. Rico would already have it if he was used like him to start the year.
