The Dallas Cowboys have reached a one-year agreement to bring back Kicker Kai Forbath in 2020. He played in three games for Dallas last year after Brett Maher was released.
Forbath went 10-for-10 on field goals attempts in his limited 2019 appearances. He has a career FG percentage of 86.8% since 2012.
There was talk that Dallas might be looking at veteran Greg Zuerlein this offseason given the hiring of his previous special teams coach, John Fassel, for the same role with the Cowboys. But Zuerlein was only 72.7% on field goals in 2019.
Forbath actually started his NFL career with Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2011. But an injury caused him to miss out on the kicker competition and the job went to fellow rookie Dan Bailey.
Now the two parties have come circle, and nine years later it appears Kai Forbath will finally get to start a season as the Cowboys kicker.
Let’s hope he still has the job by December.
