Cowboys S Donovan Olumba Making Strong Case for Final 53 Roster Spot

According to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com, the Cowboys have released both cornerback Donovan Olumba and defensive lineman Daniel Wise. Each spent most of the 2019 season on the team’s practice squad.

Both Olumba and Wise have been preseason favorites of Cowboys Nation. Most notably, Wise had a monster preseason finale in 2019, finishing with two sacks and five combined tackles in the game.

These moves come as a bit of surprise considering the need that Dallas has at each of these positions. Dallas did just sign Gerald McCoy to play defensive tackle, but that shouldn’t block a young player like Wise from competing for a roster spot. We’ll see how this all works out as part of the grand plan, but it is a bit confusing at the moment.

I wouldn’t expect Daniel Wise to be on the open market for very long, that’s for sure.

That’s probably the dumbest thing they’ve done so far…. Especially with Daniel Wise…. I think Daniel Wise is better than that wasted 2nd round pick Tristan Hill!! What are they thinking!?
