Well, I can tell you I did not see this coming on Wednesday night, so if you are reading this Thursday morning, the Dallas Cowboys made a late night splash and traded for Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr.
This has been something that many have been keeping an eye on, but Jerry Jones finally pulled the trigger and made the move for a guy that can help them in a really bad secondary.
He has been sitting out with the Steelers over contract issues, so before we get built up over this, let’s see how this will play out when he gets to Dallas, but it sounds like he won’t sign a contract right away and if he really does have back issues which has caused him to miss the start of the year, he will somehow magically be fine when he gets to Dallas and start playing ASAP.
He is not elite at really anything, but he is just a really good, solid cornerback, and he has shown that throughout his first three years with the Steelers.
Remember, George Pickens was the same way until he got to Dallas, things have worked out pretty well since then.
The trade details are as follows: according to Cowboys writer, Ed Werder, this trade would involve Dallas sending draft choices in 2027 and possibly 2028 but no first-rounder included.
It has now come out that it will be a 2027 sixth-round pick and a 2028 second-round pick. I am perfectly fine with that, IF he plays!
Porter has not played this season while citing a back injury as he seeks a new contract. Cowboys have recently completed deals with Steelers GM Omar Kahn for George Pickens and Broderick Jones.
This post will be updated as more information becomes available and I can get it updated!
