Head Coach Mike McCarthy will have the opportunity to defeat the former team he used to coach, the Green Bay Packers. This Green Bay team isn't looking too hot this year, with a record of 3-6, the Packers are in serious trouble of missing the playoffs.
So what's in store for this game? Will the Cowboys destroy the Packers and get their 7th win? Or will Green Bay rally to a rare win over their former head coach? Here are my thoughts.
To be honest, this game may be closer than fans expect. I get that Aaron Rogers is at an all-time low, but it's very hard to see Green Bay going 3-7. I'm going to be going for an average-scoring game for both teams in this matchup.
The first quarter will probably be rather boring, Perhaps Tony Pollard gets some big runs and the Cowboys go up 3-0 to end the quarter. Aaron Rogers will probably throw about 2 interceptions for the whole game and one of those will be at the start of the 2nd quarter.
The turnover will be enough to give Quarterback Dak Prescott and the offense the field position they need to score a touchdown. Before the half, Green Bay will score a late touchdown to bring the score to 10-7, Cowboys will lead.
I am projecting that Dak will have some great stats this game. Such as not throwing an interception, over 200 yards of passing, and a touchdown. The problem with scoring won't be the stats, it will be getting past the offense's worst enemy… Itself.
I feel like Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore will have a lot of bad and questionable play calls this game. This will lead to another week of Cowboy fans getting more frustrated at how he coaches. After two weeks of good play calls, Kellen Moore will go back to his regular plays, which involve more and more passing.
Anyway, back to the game…
The second half will start and Green Bay will get the ball. The Packers will go down the field and set up a field goal attempt. I am going to go a little gutsy and say that the kick will be blocked by the Cowboys' defense and it will give them some good field position.
Tony Pollard will have an explosive 30+ yard run that will result in another touchdown for the Cowboys, 17-7. After that, the Packers will get the ball again, however, disaster strikes for Green Bay, as Rogers throws another pick. The Cowboys will take advantage of this and score another touchdown, making the score 24-7, Cowboys lead.
So you may be asking “Tony, I thought you said this would be a close game.” It will, but we haven't entered the fourth quarter yet.
Meet Quarterback Jordan Love, the backup quarterback to Aaron Rogers. After Rogers throws his second interception, the Green Bay staff will realize that it's time to bring in Love.
Jordan will lead his team on a slow but steady drive. After a bit, Jordan Love will find a receiver in the endzone for a touchdown. This will take the score to 24-14. Nothing too much to worry about… Yet.
The Cowboys try to do the normal action which is run the ball and waste the clock but fail to get a first down and leave 5 minutes left on the game clock. Love, knowing if he ever wants to be a starting QB, will heroically take his team down the field and score yet another touchdown. A comeback?!
However, the Cinderella story of Jordan Love will come to a close and the Cowboys will successfully close the game out with a score of 24-21, Cowboys win. I recommend watching this game, as it will be closer than most expect.
