The Dallas Cowboys should not be unfamiliar with the international pathway program as they have used it in the past and seen first hand from a team in the division what can happen when you find the right guy in the program.
The Dallas Cowboys have used the international pathway program in the past for a player and should be keeping tabs on two players currently trying to make their way into the NFL.
Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru put up insane numbers at the International Pathway Program Pro Day. If Dallas wants to find upside in different places, these are the kind of prospects the front office should be watching.
The program included Bernard from Nigeria and Weru from Kenya. These two set the social media landscape on fire with their performances.
The program is built to bring international players into the spotlight and these two prospects did just that with the day they had. The program may have found some monsters in Africa.
The Cowboys Have Been Down This Road
The Cowboys used the pathway with Isaac Alarcon.
In August 2020, Isaac Alarcon landed with the Dallas Cowboys as the team’s International Pathway Program addition after impressing scouts, and the Cowboys were the club willing to invest in a nontraditional international development bet.
I wanted this to be known, so you don’t think this is some random idea that the Dallas Cowboys have never done.
The Cowboys know this pipeline and have shown the patience it takes for these players.
So when I see names like Uar Bernard and Joshua Weru tied to the pathway, I don’t think Dallas will just shrug and look the other way. I think Dallas may be interested.

Uar Bernard Feels Like the Kind of Upside Player Dallas Loves
Uar Bernard has become a social media superstar after his International Pathway Pro Day numbers hit the web.
He has the most physically dominant profile I think I have ever seen.
This young man is 6’4” and 306 pounds, and when you think about that in your head you may think he has some heft to him, but it’s the exact opposite. This man is a tank, or whatever is stronger than a tank.
This is a freak athlete who ran a 4.63 forty-yard dash, had a 10’10” broad jump, and a 39” vertical. As seen in the photo in the above section, a man that big shouldn’t be putting up these numbers, but here we are.
He will definitely not be polished, but we hired a coach who is a pass rush expert for these types of players.
Late in the draft, I would take rare traits over an unfinished college football product. I want a guy who has the tools no one has ever seen before. The Victor Wembanyama of football.
If the Cowboys were willing to bring in Alarcon through the pathway before, then they should be doing homework on a player like Uar Bernard.

Joshua Weru the Other Pathway Pro Day Warrior
Joshua Weru is different, not the “freak athlete” of Uar Bernard, but Weru’s rugby background gives him some athletic similarities to football.
He doesn’t carry the same buzz as Bernard right now, but he still fits the kind of player profile I think Dallas should consider.
He is another unconventional developmental story, and another reminder that talent does not only come from college.
That’s the whole point to me.
The Cowboys can get talent using different avenues than college, and they have shown a willingness to do it in the past. So, I think it would make sense for a team that struggled on defense to give a flyer to names like Bernard and Weru.
