Last night, the Dallas Cowboys started their 2026 preseason off with a bang as they defeated the reigning Super Bowl champion Seahawks 17-7. Of course, the hype of the preseason can never match the fun of the real deal, but it was good to see our guys out there competing.
It was also a really important night for the players whose places on the 53-man roster are far from a guarantee, as they were doing what they could to try to earn a place in Dallas.
There were a few big highlights in particular, in terms of player personnel, that are absolutely worth mentioning as the team moves into this next week. Here, we’ll quickly go a few players/units so you know who stood out against Seattle.
1. UDFA WR Camden Brown: The Star of Saturday’s Show
You don’t need me to tell you that Camden Brown, an UDFA Wide Receiver trying to make the roster, had a massive game last night.
This kid has been impressing in camp, and he reeled in two fantastic touchdown grabs to really boost his stock against the Seahawks. In total, the Georgia Southern product had three catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
If he keeps it up, we’re going to have serious debates about him as the WR5 on the 53-man roster come Week 1.
2. QB’s Sam Howell & Joe Milton: Backup QB Battle Heats Up
This may be cheating, since it is two players, but both are worth mentioning here. Sam Howell and Joe Milton, the two QBs fighting to backup All-Pro and franchise legend Dak Prescott, had fantastic nights.
Both had a 118 quarterback rating, with Milton going 12/15 for 107 yards and a touchdown and Howell, who started the game, going 8/12 for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Neither guy had an interception, either, which will be a big factor for who gets the nod as the QB on the opening depth chart.
3. The Cowboys Defense: Shutout Performance in 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Quarter
Cheating again, since now this isn’t even a specific player, but the entire Dallas D deserves some props for their performance last night.
After allowing a first quarter touchdown, the defense did not allow a single point the rest of the way, and even had a goal-line stand for four downs after the Cowboys special teams muffed a punt inside the 10-yard line.
James Houston and Isaiah Land got on the board with sacks, and the young guys you want to see progress showed some real promise. They were the highlight of this game.
