BREAKING NEWS: Dallas Cowboys sign NFL Legend Von Miller

1

The news has just broken that the Cowboys and free agent Von Miller have agreed to terms on a one-year deal to bring the Dallas, Texas native home; this comes after weeks of revived speculation and years of rumors tying the future Hall of Famer to the organization.

In 2022, Miller openly stated that he was interested in joining the Cowboys and willing to take a hometown discount to sign; Dallas did offer him a deal, but the Buffalo Bills blew their offer away. He also campaigned to join the team in recent weeks through social media.

Now, after a stint in 2025 with the Washington Commanders and that social media bargaining, Miller is finally headed to Dallas, where he may well end his legendary NFL career.

What are the Cowboys getting from Miller at age-37? How did he perform last year in the NFC East? These are the questions fans will be asking as he puts the star on his helmet, so let’s talk about it.

Von Miller Heads to Dallas: What Are The Cowboys Getting?

2025 Stats: 17 Games Played, 9.0 Sacks (Led Team), 6 Tackles for Loss.

The immediate reaction from some fans, both in Dallas and around the league, will be “Von Miller is washed.”

Those critics are not wrong that he is no longer the 18.5-sack, Super Bowl MVP who dominated offensive lines in the early 2010s, but he proved in 2025 that he has some gas in the tank; just ask the Commanders which player led their team in sacks!

That’s right: Miller, at age 36, quietly led Dan Quinn’s defense in sacks with nine last season, marking his highest total since 2018 when he tallied 14.5 for the Broncos.

Von Miller had 9 sacks last year for the Commanders. He was on ‘The 89 Show’ in July and i asked him about what he can do in 2026. “I can roll out of bed and get 5 sacks.” 🤣😂

It was an impressive year, but it really wasn’t much of a surprise for those who have kept following Miller’s trajectory even as his superstar status has dimmed with age. Outside of a sack-less 2023 with Buffalo, he had 9.5 in 2021 (and another Super Bowl ring), 8.0 in 2022, and 6.0 in 2024.

The man is a sack machine, and anybody who watched the Cowboys’ defense last year knows they still need that kind of production wherever they can get it.

Dallas has added to the defensive line this offseason (trading for Rashan Gary, drafting Malachi Lawrence, etc), but Miller adds a level of experience, elite veteran leadership, motivation to perform for his hometown team, and outright pass rush ability that is still hard to find.

Expect him to be a real player for this Cowboys team, and enjoy it, because Von Miller is going into Canton one day and may be riding off into the sunset for America’s Team.
