The Dallas Cowboys have selected Ole Miss edge rusher Sam Williams with the 56th overall pick.
Hailing from Montgomery, Alabama, Williams was a First-team All-SEC selection and received Second-team All-American honors from Sporting News last season. He recorded 22.5 sacks as a Rebel, including 12.5 in 2021. He’ll fill the void left by Randy Gregory when he left for the Denver Broncos.
Williams thrives when rushing the passer and brings athleticism, a quick burst and power. If you take Williams’ words at face value, the Cowboys have been high on him for a while. He worked out with defenbsiive coordinator Dan Quinn during Ole Miss’ Pro Day on March 23 and spoke about the team’s interest with him afterward.
