Cowboys select WR Jalen Brooks from South Carolina with 244th pick 1

With their last pick in the 2023 NFL draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected wide receiver Jalen Brooks from South Carolina.

The team waited until their last pick two picks in the draft to add a running back, then a wide out.

Brooks adds depth to the room, but does not have good speed. He has decent ball skills which might be the reason the team thought he would be worth a try.

Brooks started his career as a linebacker at North Carolina, but transferred to SC for his final three years. He only had 58 catches for 785 yards and two touchdowns. I am very confused by this pick.

Nonetheless, I will let him come in and see what he’s got before I address it any further, but my guess is that he will come in and compete for a roster spot and then end up on the practice squad.

Time will tell, I will give my thoughts on the draft next week, but only liked a handful of picks.

Hello Shane. Man, as usual, I agree with your analogy and opinions on this draft class. I liike Mazi Smith and Deuce Vaughn. Not sure what Overshown is suppose to do. Seems to light for an every down Linebacker and not enough experience to transition quickly to a Safety position. The UFA’S were more sensible than the draft picks. I think Luekpe, Land, Bostik, Durden, and Wheat have legitimate shots to make the roster. Some of the draft picks, with the exception of Smith, Vaughn, and Schoonmaker may not make it to the final 53 man roster. Schoonmaker is perhaps the most confusing pick of the Cowboys Draft. Ferguson and Hendershot can both play. Why draft Schoonmaker so high? Another 2nd round pick destined to play on Special Teams if at all. Another baffling decision by Jerry, Stephen, and Will McClay. Hopefully we can sign Robbie Gould or Mason Crosby if Green Bay releases him. ANYBODY EXCEPT MAHER!!!!!
