The Dallas Cowboys (1-1) return to action Monday night against the New York Giants (2-0) in MetLife Stadium, as they aim to be the first team to put a blemish on the Giants undefeated start.
In the first two games, the Giants averaged 20 PPG, 182 passing yards, 170.5 rushing yards, and held their opponents to just 18 PPG. On the other side, the Cowboys averaged 11.5 PPG, 216.5 passing yards, 89 rushing yards, and also held opponents to 18 PPG.
Entering this game, the Boys will still be without staring quarterback Dak Prescott as he still nurses his thumb injury. But, a familiar face will be back in the lineup Monday night after recovering from an ACL injury, and, if you haven’t guessed who, it’s WR Michael Gallup.
While the numbers on the Cowboys offense above indicate they have failed to put points on the board, Gallup’s return should be a massive boost for the offense overall–and allow QB Cooper Rush to air it more confidently.
Although the Boys have beaten the Giants repeatedly for several seasons (minus the one loss they had in the 2020 season), this game shouldn’t be viewed as an automatic win since they are still without a couple of guys, including Prescott.
However, last Sunday’s performance by Rush showed the whole fanbase that he could get it done, so expect an entertaining game. The defense will likely be the star of the game, but don’t be surprised to see Rush put some points on the board.
