The (1-1) wrap up their preseason play this Friday as they welcome the (0-2) into Jerry World. While fans shouldn't expect starters to dress in their final rehearsal before the regular season, this game should be exciting, as this will serve as the last time some players can show out to the coaches before the roster is trimmed from 80 to 53 on August 30.

Also, you can bet the team is hoping to ride into the NFL regular season with some winning momentum, so players are going to put on a show.

Here are some players to watch for in the game:

  • QB Will Grier--After a solid outing last week versus the Los Angeles Chargers, Grier can put the final nail in the coffin for the backup QB gig with another efficient performance. Factor in that HC wants Grier to handle the bulk of the work on Friday–we could see a new backup behind (Dak) Prescott this year.
  • RB Malik Davis— During this preseason, it felt like RB Rico Dowdle had the RB3 job locked up, but Davis has been putting together a string of performances that has him making a case to steal Dowdle's spot. You could argue that Davis could get designated to the practice squad if he doesn't land as the RB3, but if he shows out again, it may be Davis time. (This was my favorite run by him.)
  • K Brett Maher– In their recent roster shakeup, the Cowboys cut K Lirim Hajrullahu, which left Maher as the only kicker on the roster. While you could argue that Hajrullahu performed better last game than Maher stats-wise, now Maher is expected to be this year's starting kicker. The main thing to look for is for him to prove he can be accurate on his short FGs, as he showed his troubles a couple of seasons ago. (Also, I'm tired of getting headaches from the team's special teams guys.)
