It might be time to give Brian Schottenheimer his flowers

Let me start by saying, I was one of the many who was so mad at the hire of Brian Schottenhimer, but after the first five weeks of the season, I think it is fair to give some credit to the head coach and the way he has them playing.

Yesterday, without CeeDee Lamb and four of the starting offensive linemen, Mike McCarthy does not win that game.

That was a football game that we knew going into it, that this team had no chance under Mike, and now, the team looks ready to go every single week.

We have a long way to go, but after the first five weeks, I did not expect the coaching job he has done thus far.

Offense Is Humming

The defense is a major issue, clearly, but this offense is playing as well anyway. They currently have the number one offense in all football, and even in 2023, I don’t think Dak Prescott was playing this well.

Dallas was down four starters on the offensive line, including their All-Pro left guard in Tyler Smith.

They were also without their All-Pro receiver in CeeDee Lamb, KaVontae Turpin, and their starting safety in Malik Hooker. That’s a serious level of adversity, and yet Dallas absolutely dog-walked the Jets, something that team just did not due when the head coach was Mike McCarthy.

I still can’t stop thinking about that 4th and 6 against the Packers in OT, if the defense could just make that one stand, this team would be looking even better this Monday morning.

Nonetheless, the Cowboys will take care of the Panthers next week, and they will be 3-2-1 and then real business starts. They play the Commanders at home and then the Broncos on the road.

I think they split both of those, and by then CeeDee Lamb will be back, and they can make a push for the playoffs, something that nobody thought they would have a chance to do this season.

JaVonte Williams looks like the guy who was before his injury, and they have found something with this offense. Schotty is running, and I love every minute of it.

The defense still has major issues, and they are going to be tested again soon, so that is my only worry, but this team, when Lamb comes back, and they get those starters on the OL back, they are going to be in every single game because of Dak Prescott and the head coach running the offense.

The “Shoddy” hire got a lot of mocking/criticizing from the sport MSM. At the time, I thought he should be able to get his chance like any other new HC. So far, he has been good at play calling as the very good production has shown. Of course, the players on the field have to do the executing. JW has been a big part, running hard and keeping opposing defenses honest with the play action. On the flip side, the defense showed signs of improvement Sunday night.

You say that you think we’ll split the next 2 games, but I think we can win both of them!! If we can tie a team like Green Bay, then I we have a good chance to beat Washington and Denver!! And we play Washington at home, and that helps us even more!! And Denver isn’t as good as most people expected, and they’re definitely not as good as Green Bay, so I think we have a good chance to win both games!!

And you said our defense is a problem, but to me, it looks like they’re getting a lot better!! They looked really good against the jets, and the jets have a pretty good offense!! So I think they’ll get better every week and they’ll start helping us win games!!
