The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of questions to answer as they head into the bye week at 3-3, coming off a 47-9 beat down at the hands of the Detroit Lions.
Jerry Jones makes a weakly appearance on a Dallas/Fort Worth radio show called 105.3 The Fan every Tuesday morning, and things got heated in a hurry!
Jones has taken a lot of heat over the years, and we have heard him say a lot of dumb things after some pretty bad losses, but he has a way with words, and most of the time does not allow things to get to him.
For the first time maybe ever in my lifetime, Jerry was very defensive this morning in his responses to the lack of moves and improvements that he made this offseason that is now showing up after six weeks.
You are the only one acting surprised, buddy! Every single person saw this coming.
I knew the offense would take a step back, but the defense, my goodness, reminds me of when Mike Nolan called the plays back in 2020.
What Was Said?
He was very defensive when asked about not making more moves in the offseason.
“This is not your job. Your job isn’t to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I’m sorry that I did it, Jones said”
“That’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding, I’m very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I’m sick about what happened Sunday.”
It seems that this is finally starting to get under his skin, and I am happy that it is.
Jones does not have an answer for his lack of improvements, so instead he is threatening to get rid of the media, so he doesn’t have to deal with it anymore. Shocker!
He went on to say that there will be no in-season coaching changes, and honestly, as much as folks want Mike McCarthy gone, this is a problem Jerry created. Don’t tell him that, though, he might try to fire you!
You had the chance to make that team better this offseason, you stuck by your guns, tried to do it your way again, and it is failing right in front of your eyes. Nobody feels bad for you.
Now he is trying to blame others, fire the media and not take it on the chin like a man.
For anyone who has been following the Cowboys and Jerry Jones, the answer is clear. They don’t want to spend the money. They would rather let McCarthy’s contract expire and hire their next head coach in the 2025 offseason.
He Just Doesn’t Care
This interview showed that he just doesn’t care. He will let his thing crash and burn before he makes it right, and for all of us who want to see this team win it is sad.
He claims that he feels bad, but nobody is buying into that garbage. If he truly felt bad, he would do something about it. This team continues to get beat down at home and squeak by average football teams.
When the Cowboys come out of the bye week they travel to take on the 49ers, a team they struggle with.
Another team that runs the ball very well, and will blow the doors off Dallas.
They then play the Falcons, a game they could win on the road, then return home for a divisional game with the Eagles and the Texans.
The fan in me wants to see the Cowboys somehow make it out of this stretch with a winning record, but look at the product that Jerry is sticking with. It is horrible!
As I was writing this, the Jets traded a 3rd round pick to the Raiders for Davante Adams, the Cowboys 2nd and 3rd round picks never produce anyway, but no way Jerry would suck up his pride and make a move like this to help this team win now.
