Kenny Moore might be exactly the kind of move the Cowboys should be looking at right now.
When I saw the report the Indianapolis Colts and Kenny Moore are open to finding him a new home, my mind went straight to one spot on this defense that still feels a little shaky: slot corner.
Dallas does not need another body; they need a real answer and Moore feels like he could be that answer.
He is in the final year of his deal, and his base salary this season is $9.49 million. For a veteran defensive back who can play inside, tackle, blitz, and still make plays on the ball, this could be a big pickup for the Cowboys.
If the trade compensation is reasonable, I would be interested.

Kenny Moore Gives the Cowboys Exactly What They Need Inside
This is why I like Kenny Moore.
He’s not just a name some fans may recognize because he has been around a while, but he does things at a position Dallas could really use help at.
Over eight seasons with Indianapolis, Moore has piled up 20 interceptions, 611 combined tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 27 pressures.
What I want from a slot corner is not just covering the quick outs and whip routes. The player has to be multifaceted, and Kenny Moore has the veteran know how to get it done.
I want a player who can tackle in space, trigger downhill without hesitation, and is around the football. That player may be Kenny Moore.

Kenny Moore Brings More Than Coverage
This may be a part a lot of people miss.
Kenny Moore isn’t just a slot cover guy, he plays with an edge, timing, and has the veteran football IQ to know what is coming.
The Cowboys need somebody inside who can do more than hold up for a few seconds and hope the pass rush gets home. I want to see someone who can make life harder for the quarterback.
When I look at his recent years, I still see someone who can help. In 2024, he had 3 interceptions and 78 combined tackles, while adding 1.5 sacks.
This information shows me he’s still a big part of a defense if he is healthy.

The Real Issue May be the Trade Cost
This is where I may have to pump the brakes a little, because I like the player, the fit, but I don’t love the idea of overpaying for a 30-year-old cornerback on an expiring deal.
That would be a huge mistake.
If we are talking about a late round pick, I could stomach that cost.
The Cowboys would not be trading for Kenny Moore to be a long-term building block. The trade would be for help right now, in a major role, on a defense that will have a lot to prove next season under a new defensive coaching staff.
I would take Kenny Moore over a late-round shot in the dark at cornerback help late in the draft. This is a player who could help immediately and not wait to gain experience.
I’m all for it, if the price is right.
