New York Jets Putting the Kibosh on Jamal Adams to Cowboys Trade Speculation?

A Dallas Cowboys and Jamal Adams marriage is looking unlikely.

Well Cowboys Nation, it may be time to put any hopes of Jamal Adams joining the Dallas Cowboys to rest. It’s starting to look as if the New York Jets are trying to put the kibosh on any trade speculation involving their All-Pro safety.

Just to clear this up… we’ve had small discussions thus far, not in detailed talks yet, just talked about it. With that being said, I fully expect to be extended this offseason. I want to be in New York!

Opening the lines of communication is just the first step for the Jets and Jamal Adams’ representatives. It’s still really early in the process, but it does seem to indicate one of the best safeties in the NFL won’t be changing his New York address anytime soon. For the Dallas Cowboys, and their fans, this has to be a little disappointing.

The Dallas Cowboys tried and failed to acquire Jamal Adams ahead of the 2019 trade deadline last year. The king’s ransom the New York Jets were asking for was simply too much for the Cowboys. But, there was hope the two teams would reopen the trade discussion this offseason and work out a deal. That’s looking a little less likely now.

On the surface, this isn’t exactly great news as far as the Dallas Cowboys are concerned. There’s no denying Jamal Adams would have been a huge upgrade to the Cowboys secondary, but he’s not the only option. There are several free agent safeties who could do the same and then there’s always the 2020 NFL Draft.

Now, I wouldn’t completely shut the door on the Dallas Cowboys interest in Jamal Adams just yet. Just because his representatives and the New York Jets have opened up contract extension talks doesn’t mean they can mutually agree upon a deal. There is still a sliver of hope the Cowboys can put a star on Adams’ helmet for the 2020 season and the foreseeable future.

So, as long as Jamal Adams hasn’t put ink to paper on a new contract extension the Dallas Cowboys could very much still be in the running for his services. Until that moment, we can’t completely shut the door on a trade that would bring Adams to Dallas. Both parties have shown an interest in the other and it’s still possible something materializes.

Jamal Adams and his ongoing contract extension talks with the New York Jets will definitely be something to keep an eye. I guess we can add this to the long list of things that will make this Dallas Cowboys offseason one of the more interesting ones. Strap in, because this is getting more and more exciting the further along we go.

  1. Good, I hope the jets do sign him to a long expensive contract!! He wasn’t worth all that draft capital anyways!! Especially when he has to be paid too!! I’d much rather keep all our draft picks and players and find somebody else in free agency or the draft!! It’ll be a lot cheaper and there’s a good chance we can end up with somebody that’s just as good if not better!! I never really thought Jamal Adams was that good anyways!! If you ask me, I think he’s way over rated!!
