Outside of no HC, the Dallas Cowboys have another serious issue

Whoa, what a week it has been, on Monday we found out that Mike McCarthy would not return as the head coach of the football team and since then we have heard nothing but talk about who may take his job.

From Kellen Moore to Deion Sanders, yet nobody really knows the move Jerry Jones is going to make, and with that, this football team still has another lingering issue that, no matter who takes over may not be able to fix.

You all know what this is just like I do, but it is nice to take a step back and address it and think about how they may move forward with it.

Top Heavy

This roster is so top-heavy it is not even funny, with the money they paying Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and soon to be Micah Parsons, it leaves them in a huge disadvantage.

We can say whatever we want, and yes they paid a B-level quarterback A+ money, but the problem is, you have to have a guy who is at least good to be able to have a chance in football games.

The real issue is Jerry Jones and the way he conducts his team and just won’t get out of the way.

Dallas has 22 unrestricted free agents on the roster and a handful of others who are also considered free agents as well.

This team is going to get worse, and we all know it.

Now, you can’t win 12 games in a row for three straight seasons and be satisfied with a 7-10 record. Even more so because Jerry said last offseason he was going to be “all in,” after being the only 2-seed to lose to a 7-seed at home when they changed the playoff format.

He proceeded to wait until the last possible moment to get two contracts done and sign nobody else to make the team better in the last window of chance that he had.

2025

This team is going to have to hope they hit a home-run in this year’s draft, and honestly, I only see about 5–9 players that can be an absolute game-changers, and guess what?

The Dallas Cowboys are picking 12th in April, and the likely hood they will get one is slim to none.

Everyone has their thoughts on who the Cowboys should hire, and regardless of who they do, the roster has MAJOR flaws.

With this being an offensive league, the Cowboys defense should be good enough in the secondary, yet the offensive side is a problem.

Outside CeeDee Lamb, what did we see this year? Even KaVontae Turpin is a restricted free agent and will need to be signed, or he will be gone.

Don’t get me started on that Jonathan Mingo trade, another one of the Jerry Jones specials.

The Cowboys offense scored a touchdown on just 46% of their drives, ranking 31st in the NFL, and only ahead of the lowly New York Giants.

Play calls in the redzone were terrible. The lack of a run game probably contributed most to the redzone woes because there was no threat of play action pass.

Jake Ferguson was a disappointment this season, and with Rico Dowdle also needing a new contract, it won’t matter who takes over the head coaching duties or who is hired as the offensive coordinator.

They are falling behind when it comes to scoring touchdowns, and sure they have the best kicker in all of football, but you are not going to win games with 3.

I am just blabbering here, but the way Jerry has done things over the last few years has really put this team behind the 8-ball.

I agree 1000 % with everything you said. I am 55 years old and have been a Cowboys fan since 1979. This team is a total embarrassment and I have never felt that way about the Cowboys, not even during their 1-15 season. Jerry has destroyed this team and he has to go!

That mingo trade was all McClay. Jerry I am sure said do it but that is always on the personnel guys the their recommendations. JJ I am fairly certain did not know who the heck Mingo was at any point.

If Jerry really wants to win, and if we’re gonna turn this around, we’re gonna need to make a big play in FA or Trade, I agree with needing another Weapon, so I’d say go get Tyreek from Dolphins, he’s made it clear he’s done there, that’d be move to make.

A big trade ala Raiders-Bears style in Khalil Mack, by the Cowboys getting Myles Garrett from Browns would be the only other big one I can see, it’d be expensive both in Cap and trade, but that’s what we’ve come to,

we need another impact player, and then some starter help in a lot of positions from Draft, definitely doesn’t look good right now

And I highly doubt we’ll pull off a big trade like I’m saying cuz Jerry doesn’t do that anymore, he only takes chances on players who’s had a major injury in College, then calls himself a genius when they turn out good for 1 year

This team will never play in another Super Bowl until Jerry Jones is gone. His ego has destroyed the Cowboys. I now firmly believe that he has no interest in being successful. He just wants attention. It is disgraceful!

You’re right, you’re babbling. They can easily make up to 100 million in cap space if they wanted to, so not being able to pay and sign players will not be a problem. Not sure how they can get any worse than they were this year and honestly it was mostly because of injuries which can happen to any team. Yes, they have holes to fill, but let’s not act like the sky is falling and their roster needs to be blown up….. yet. First things first, hiring a coach who can get the most out of the offense with Dak and makes his players accountable will go a long way right out of the gate. It’ll be alright, chicken little.

I’ve been a Cowboys fan since the early eighties, when they were a strong team. The head coach isn’t to blame. In my opinion, get rid of Prescott and find a talented quarterback…

I understand Mr. Jones bought the team and as an Early GM hit on some really “big decisions.” Hiring Jimmy Johnson was the biggest and they won 3 out of 4 Superbowls. It would’ve been more if those two would’ve put their egos aside. Jerry, several years later hired Parcells. He had us on the cusp of being a Championship caliber team and he couldn’t get along with the GM “Jerry”. So, the team has a great roster, they are a marketing superstar company. Jerry you are 82 years old. Your decisions have made you a multi billionaire and we all congratulate you! It’s America and your story is the perfect American Dream story. But, your fans are frustrated. Pls step aside and don’t let your ego get in the way of this team anymore. When is enough enough? You are in the Hall of Fame! Time it time to sit back and enjoy your accomplishments and hire a hungry GM and give him full reigns to make Dallas Cowboy fans proud again!

Well Jerry Jones helped 2 of the division rivals out in a major way, it’s just sad he has done nothing to help his own team out!
