Outside of no HC, the Dallas Cowboys have another serious issue

Whoa, what a week it has been, on Monday we found out that Mike McCarthy would not return as the head coach of the football team and since then we have heard nothing but talk about who may take his job.

From Kellen Moore to Deion Sanders, yet nobody really knows the move Jerry Jones is going to make, and with that, this football team still has another lingering issue that, no matter who takes over may not be able to fix.

You all know what this is just like I do, but it is nice to take a step back and address it and think about how they may move forward with it.

Top Heavy

This roster is so top-heavy it is not even funny, with the money they paying Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and soon to be Micah Parsons, it leaves them in a huge disadvantage.

We can say whatever we want, and yes they paid a B-level quarterback A+ money, but the problem is, you have to have a guy who is at least good to be able to have a chance in football games.

The real issue is Jerry Jones and the way he conducts his team and just won’t get out of the way.

Dallas has 22 unrestricted free agents on the roster and a handful of others who are also considered free agents as well.

This team is going to get worse, and we all know it.

Now, you can’t win 12 games in a row for three straight seasons and be satisfied with a 7-10 record. Even more so because Jerry said last offseason he was going to be “all in,” after being the only 2-seed to lose to a 7-seed at home when they changed the playoff format.

He proceeded to wait until the last possible moment to get two contracts done and sign nobody else to make the team better in the last window of chance that he had.

2025

This team is going to have to hope they hit a home-run in this year’s draft, and honestly, I only see about 5–9 players that can be an absolute game-changers, and guess what?

The Dallas Cowboys are picking 12th in April, and the likely hood they will get one is slim to none.

Everyone has their thoughts on who the Cowboys should hire, and regardless of who they do, the roster has MAJOR flaws.

With this being an offensive league, the Cowboys defense should be good enough in the secondary, yet the offensive side is a problem.

Outside CeeDee Lamb, what did we see this year? Even KaVontae Turpin is a restricted free agent and will need to be signed, or he will be gone.

Don’t get me started on that Jonathan Mingo trade, another one of the Jerry Jones specials.

The Cowboys offense scored a touchdown on just 46% of their drives, ranking 31st in the NFL, and only ahead of the lowly New York Giants.

Play calls in the redzone were terrible. The lack of a run game probably contributed most to the redzone woes because there was no threat of play action pass.

Jake Ferguson was a disappointment this season, and with Rico Dowdle also needing a new contract, it won’t matter who takes over the head coaching duties or who is hired as the offensive coordinator.

They are falling behind when it comes to scoring touchdowns, and sure they have the best kicker in all of football, but you are not going to win games with 3.

I am just blabbering here, but the way Jerry has done things over the last few years has really put this team behind the 8-ball.
