Yes we know, it’s been 10,000 days since Dallas’ last Super Bowl

Y'all outta pocket!: This Cowboys team does not owe fans a Super Bowl win

Thank you for the reminder Eagles fans, and the rest of the NFL fan bases too. The Dallas Cowboys are officially 10,000 days removed from their last Super Bowl appearance as of today.

Trust us, we’ve noticed. But, and I do so hate to break this to you and rain on your hate parade, we’re doing just fine over here. Really, it’s not us, it’s you.

Because there are several things which remain true on this allegedly dark day:

  • The Dallas Cowboys are still America’s Team.
  • The Cowboys have won their last three straight Super Bowls. No other team can say that.
  • The Cowboys are tied for second in overall Super Bowl appearances with the Steelers.
  • The Cowboys are tied for third in Super Bowl wins with the 49ers.

So if Dallas makes the big game this year and wins it, they move into a tie with the Patriots and Steelers for most wins. They would only trail the Patriots by two appearances for the most in the NFL.

So yeah, don’t cry for us Argentina, we good. And by Argentina, I mean the rest of the NFL in general and you wonderful, classy Eagles fans in particular.

Why The Hate?

I have to ask, since Dallas hasn’t even been to an NFC Championship game, much less a Super Bowl in nearly three decades, why do you care?

It seems the Cowboys are living rent free in about 97% of NFL fans’ heads. The worst offenders, of course, hail from the City of Brother Do We Love To Boo Santa.

I don’t know if you Eagles’ fans have noticed, but you’re dead last in the NFC East in Super Bowl appearances (4) and wins (1).

Even the Redskins/Commanders have more appearances (5) and wins (3) and they haven’t been to a Super Bowl since 1991. The Giants have four wins in five appearances.

You’re tied for 16th in the NFL in wins and 13th in appearances. With four trips to the Super Bowl you’re hanging with Buffalo, Indianapolis, and Minnesota.

In others words, sit down. Don’t come talk to us until you catch us in appearances and wins.

As For The Rest Of Y’all

There are 28 teams that have fewer appearance and wins in the Super Bowl than Dallas does. Eight teams are winless in their appearances. The Bills and Vikings are 0-4, with the Bengals on their tails at 0-3.

Adding any former Cowboy player to this year's roster to help solve their Super Bowl drought

Its been 46 years since the Vikings last played in a Super Bowl. Its been 38 years since the Dolphins lost to the 49ers in Super Bowl XIX.

When it comes to droughts since their last Super Bowl, the Jets are the kings. It has been 54 years since their appearance in Super Bowl III.

There are four teams — Cleveland, Jacksonville, Detroit, and Houston – who have never played for the championship at all.

The Lions joined the NFL in 1930 as the Portsmouth Spartans. Their last NFL championship was won in 1957, the last time they played for the NFL title as well.

The Browns joined the NFL in 1950 from the AAFC. The last time they played in an NFL championship game was in 1965. Their last title was in 1964.

Stay Salty, My Friends

So go ahead and mark the day haters. We get it. The Cowboys are Top 4 in the NFL in championships won and played for.

That’s 12.5% for you in Philadelphia – we’ve heard about your public schools – which means roughly 87% of the NFL fan base is seething with envy.

We’ll be bathing in your salty tears for years to come. Especially when the Cowboys add their sixth Lombardi Trophy in nine tries to the mantle at The Star in February.

It’s funny cause eagle fans like to remove what Dallas has done in the past from any argument. But Philly likes to use the future as their base. What they’re GONNA do, whats GONNA happen blah blah blah and it paid off finally for one magical season in 2017? At least there’s some trophies in Dallas’ past. Nobody knows what’s gonna happen in the future.

I know right?! And they basically had to use a trick play to win their one title at that!

Ran some more numbers over on Twitter to fend off the Philly gang. Dallas dominates Philly in every category out there, but because they won one in 2017 that means “Dallas sucks!!!”

Not sure which City’s fan base I dislike more: Philly or Boston.

Hey Richard. Your article sums up exactly why we can’t stand you.
You live in the past. You are one of these arrogant Cowboys fan who act like the NFL would cease to exist if your precious America’s team ( what a joke) was not around.
You are clearly a lazy journalist because you have to make the Santa reference like other national clowns do. Do some research and find out the real truth behind that story.
I will credit you for entertaining me by telling me how the Cowboys will lift the Lombardi trophy this February. Keep telling yourself that while drinking your morning coffee while wearing your Starters jacket and Zubaz pants.
I don’t want to take up anymore of your time because I know you have to go pick up dry cleaning for Skip Bayless.
GO BIRDS!

I could use a tissue for the tears I have from laughing so hard.
Trick play to win the Super Bowl? How about creative and gutsy? Last time I checked that was only one play in the game. I guess the Eagles didn’t do anything else to win that game.
So if we follow your logic, the next time that genius Mike McCarthy tries a gadget play, we should all say that is bush league?

You Philly folks are something else.

You keep saying we Cowboys’ fans “live in the past” and yet you’re the ones who keep bringing that very past up.

Seriously, Mike, we don’t think about the Eagles at all until its gameday and you’re next on the schedule. While you guys keep chirping about the Cowboys 365 days a year.

I do have to admit though, its nice living in y’alls head rent free like this.

Thanks for reading and commenting. We’ll keep writing about the Cowboys for you.

Richard, your Cowboys history summary was secondary to me. Your whole article were facts that every NFL already knows. The two things that bugged me were your ridiculous trick play comment and the Santa reference.
Every team tries gadget plays to try to win a game.
Every city, including ours and yours, has bad fans. I watched a video of your precious fans brawling with each other outside your stadium at the watch party after the 49ers playoff loss.
But you will not here referencing this 50 years from now for a quick cheap pop.

Difference between the two: Every Cowboys fan condemned that activity last January.

I’ve yet to hear Philly fans condemning any of your bad behavior over the years. In fact, you’ve seem to embrace it among the Eagles’ fanbase.

As for the trick plays, I’ve found the team that relies on gimmicks is a weak team. They’ll get away with it from time to time, and the Eagles managed to do so at just the right time (like the Saints did against Colts in a Super Bowl a few years back).

But, in my admittedly old school football opinion, I have no respect for the Eagles or the Saints’ championships because of it.

Incorrect. Philly fans do not sit here and embrace bad behavior. The public views it that way because guys like you continue to recycle it into unfunny jabs with false info like the Santa incident.
I will stand by my opinion that the Eagles made a gutsy call instead of settling for a field goal because they were going against Brady and knew they would have to take chances to win that game. Your 1996 boys didn’t have that worry against the mighty Neil O’Donnell. So again, not if, but when, your boys try a wrinkle in a game, and if it works, I will look forward to reading your article ripping your boys for being tacky. But instead, you’ll change your tune and hero worship them for being so innovative.

Sorry, couldn’t hear you over the sound of Philly fans booing Santa, cheering as Michael Irvin lay on the field with a career-ending injury, and applauding Buddy Ryan putting a bounty on the Cowboys’ placekicker.

These are all things I personally have witnessed. I’m sure Giants and Redskins/Commanders fans have similar memories that you cannot retcon away.

Were you also at the game when Tom Landry with regulars who crossed the picket line opened up with a razzle-dazzle (trick play) against the replacement filled Eagles players during the 1987 strike? So, Landry started the bad blood that fueled Buddy Ryan.
Again, never once did I claim our fans to be perfect. It’s your nation that acts like you’re the almighty.

So, running a trick play justifies trying to injure a player that had absolutely nothing to do with the trick play in the first place?

Never said I condoned Buddy’s choices. Just pointing out that Landry wasn’t a saint either. Just found it funny how you ripped the Eagles for running a trick play in the Super Bowl when they are playing against the goat, yet your boys did it with regulars against scabs.

Here is a summary of the theme: we have had fans who have made bad choices. True. However, every other fan base does, too. The difference is everybody else gets a free pass, yet when something happens in Philly, everybody else licks their chops and pulls out their Santa Claus card.

Dude,

Stop with the whataboutism. Just take the “L” and go boo the statue of Ben Franklin in the rotunda of Franklin Institute science museum in Philadelphia.
