Like many teams following the 2021 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys had to cut some players to meet the NFL’s 90-man limit for offseason rosters. We already knew about Antwaun Woods from earlier today, but five other players have now joined him as former Cowboys.
Woods definitely was the biggest name of the cuts, having started many games and been arguably Dallas’ best defensive tackle the last few years. But there was at least one more notable player among today’s moves in backup Offensive Lineman Adam Redmond.
The Cowboys have released DT Antwaun Woods, CB Saivion Smith, C Adam Redmond, DT Walter Palmore, DE Ladarius Hamilton and CB Kemon Hall

Technically, the Cowboys have 91 players on their 90-man roster. OT Isaac Alarcón is exempted from their count, a benefit of the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program. Alarcón, from Monterrey, Mexico, spent 2020 on team’s practice squad.

Redmond was one of the better contenders for a backup role in 2021, given his versatility to play any spot on the line. But he also turns 28 this month and Dallas may be looking to develop younger prospects at this time.
It really isn’t surprising to see some of these other cuts based on positions. Dallas added two rookies cornerbacks in the draft with Kelvin Joseph and Nahshon Wright, so out go Saivion Smith and Kemon Hall from the bottom of the depth chart.
The same goes for Walter Palmore and Ladarius Hamilton, who along with Antwaun Woods appear to have been pushed out by rookies Osa Odighizuwa, Chauncey Golston, and Quinton Bohanna.
We do see where players like these remain on the team’s radar and sometimes find their way back as training camp and the preseason unfold. So it may not be a permanent goodbye to these six players, but we wish them all the best as they now look for other work in the NFL.
Woods won’t be on the open market long. He was a solid player.
Which may be why they released him now. To give him a chance with another team.
Woods got burned too many times !
Yea someone looking for a middling undersized 1-tech who was part of the worst defense in cowboys history will snatch him up quick.
There will be many more cuts to come with names we wouldent exspect to see….the defence got a huge overhual in the draft look for bigger names to come id bet on that.
I would have been more happier if it had been Tank and that contract cut but it is what it is !
I think woods was ok to stay one of the rookies not gonna show up
Woods part of that underwhelming defensive line. Let’s see if we drafted a bunch of hopefuls or real players. Defense is not the side of the ball Jerry concentrates on. DeMarcus got his money an has been average at best since then.
Unfair Gary B. As a 1-tech, he was not put in a position to succeed (coaching cardinal rule #1). He’s a very capable NFL 3-tech and should have no problem finding another team.
Even if it was the fact that he wasn’t being used right, i don’t think I’ll be clamoring over a DT who was part of the worst run D last year, that’s like getting a Safety who was part of the worst pass D last year, oh wait, that’s what we did with bringing in Kazee, Neal, and Kearse
