The Dallas Cowboys picked up their fifth consecutive win last Sunday in thrilling fashion by beating the New England Patriots in overtime in Foxboro. However, Dak Prescott suffered a strained calf on the last play of the game as he tossed the game-winning touchdown to CeeDee Lamb.
Prescott was seen in a walking boot during his postgame media session but assured that he would be fine. Team owner Jerry Jones gave a “thumbs up” when asked about the status of his quarterback earlier this week. According to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Prescott is expected to play next Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
After dealing with a gruesome ankle injury that cost him 11 games in 2020, Prescott is playing the best football of his career this season. He has 16 touchdown passes to just four interceptions. In the first six games, Prescott has thrown at least three touchdowns in five of them including each of the last four games. The two-time Pro Bowler currently has career-highs in completion percentage (73.1) and quarterback rating (115.0).
The Cowboys’ bye week came right on time and has allowed Prescott to get the proper rest so that he won’t miss any games. A three-game lead in the NFC East (2-0 in the division) puts the Cowboys in a prime position to wrap up the division early and make their first postseason appearance since 2018, especially with a healthy Prescott.
